My girl is having her kittens! First one is here squeaking and healthy!

Second is imminent.

I think she’ll have 4 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Merry Christmas from The Kits who have discovered the curtains 👌🏾

There’s a sentence in a novel I’m very fond of, where the author describes kittens madly zooming up the curtains and then…. just hanging there, looking back over their shoulders straight at you, as though expecting a round of applause. 😸

LizzieW1969 · 27/12/2025 08:23

Thank you for sharing your pics, OP, those kitties are gorgeous. It's lovely to be able to come here for my kitty fix. 🤣

1reason · 27/12/2025 10:48

@Kittenwatch
Thanks for all the photos you have posted.
So lovely to see them growing up fast.
They will be developing own personalities too...fun times!

Kittenwatch · 27/12/2025 12:29

@1reason

They really have. Scrump and Gubby (the BW ones) are the ones who like a good scrap, Tostada is greedy AF, and Minnie and Croissant are very calm.

Mum is getting frustrated as they are harder to round up for milk as a) they are eating solid food more and b) they are chaotic and just want to play and scrap.

One got inside the sofa on Christmas Day so I had to drag them out and they were covered in foam, little twit. Here are some pics. They are absolutely thriving.

Those kittens must think Earth was a very good choice of planet on which to be incarnated!
What bliss 😽🐾

Agapornis · 27/12/2025 15:50

Very wise to have a plastic tree 😅 I think a Christmas tree is probably one of the best kitten toys.

Growlybear83 · 27/12/2025 16:42

I really look forward to your photos - the kitties are so gorgeous. You’re really going to miss them when they leave. And we will all miss the pictures.

Davros · 27/12/2025 18:00

Great tree pic

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 27/12/2025 19:23

That second one is next year’s Christmas card, surely?! Gorgeous. What a time to be a kitten, eh?

Kittenwatch · 28/12/2025 11:03

Bloody gubby got behind the fridge this morning. They are quite the experience!!!

They are trying to engage their uncle in play but he’s far too grown up to bother with them and just bats them away 🤣

One of our kittens many moons ago got in the gap between the dishwasher and the cupboard next to it. Had to drag it out by it's head, thought we were going to kill it. He survived. They get into such tight spaces it's like they have a death wish - enjoy😂

eyeses · 28/12/2025 11:50

I just want to say this has been my favourite thread in months, and I look forward to every update, but especially the ones with pictures. Thank you.

Davros · 28/12/2025 12:04

Is their uncle a cat or a human?
They can get into small spaces and high places but often seem unable to get back out

Kittenwatch · 28/12/2025 13:37

@Davros

A cat! Our original to cats are brother and sister so mum to kits and mum’s brother.

He’s not at all interested in them.

Aw, sweet cat family. But they’ll all be fine and loved when they leave to make their own way

Could be worse Op, one of my kittens climbed up the chimney

Thank you for the new Scrump photo. Gorgeous

I've already posted here about considerations when kittens are born from a Cat Rescue perspective but I cant walk away from this thread without adding another post.

Whilst I appreciate these kittens already have homes I would ask the OP the following:

  1. Will the new owners still want them if they cant get the sex they want?
  2. Will the new owners still want them if they are found to have life long issues or an expensive special diet?
  3. Will the new owners want them when they realise they are black and white, the most overlooked and unwanted colour in rescues?
  4. Will you invest in the money and time if any of those kittens need hand rearing?

And my last and most important point:

Will these new owners vaccinate @ £75 for a kitten course, microchip @ £30.00 and neuter @ £100 when they take their kitten home. And if so, why didn't they adopt a kitten from a rescue centre where the full health check has been completed and all of the above has been done for just £100? Or will they just hope for the best and "let the females have just one litter" and let the Toms wander the streets for miles un-neutered adding to the population and risking getting knocked down.

Edited

I know this is an old thread but it is an undisputed fact that rescue centres are a bloody nightmare who seem much happier to keep cats locked up than rehome them to somewhere with a road, or a child or a house with a garden that isn’t quite right.

We have a black and white rescue cat but it took a pretty desperate centre to finally give us one. Celia Hammong, Battersea and Cat protection are awful and don’t even pick up the phone most of the time.

And if you volunteered at a rescue you would know that cats that aren’t matched up properly with the right owner often get returned, abandoned or knocked down. And this old thread was about irresponsible pet owners letting their cats reproduce when there’s already lots of homeless cats and adding to an already huge problem. Responsible pet owners and charities know how it works.

Cats Protection don’t need to pick up the phone, all their cats ready for adoption are advertised online and you apply on line and if you meet the criteria you can visit and be matched up with a healthy, neutered cat that suits your circumstances and family and has been assessed so it hopefully has a home for life.

You have no idea. Maybe volunteer for a few months in an admission or rehoming centre?

EmpressaurusKitty · 29/12/2025 08:20

Those may be ‘undisputed facts’ for some rescues. They’re not undisputed facts for the one I’m involved with.
