They are so lovely. I’m home sick today and they really have made me feel better. The little shaky steps are just magical x

Good morning all! We have little walkers!! All very healthy and VERY LOUD. They are three weeks old today and that means we can start weaning but I’m just not sure they’re ready! They’re so little still!

Oh my God the gawjussness!
She is such a little beauty, and her bébéhs are beyond adorable.
What immense joy. (Look at that little black leg! Very fashion-forward.)
Aw, a tiny black and white kitten with a perfect pink nose.
Good old Mother Nature x 😽🐾🙏🏻

Daleksatemyshed · 04/12/2025 13:12

How lovely but they be up to mischief now!

wandawaves · 04/12/2025 13:28

Happy wobbly kittens. Best medicine

Best thread ever! 🐱 ❤️

I’ve only just discovered it and read @Kittenwatch‘s posts. It’s adorable 🥰

Unfortunately my husband is devastated as we have a definite home for Scrump.

We knew really but DH hoped that it would fall
through. But Scrump is going to a lovely home so we’re very happy that we’ll still have lots of updates.

We have noticed as the black ones get bigger they have lovely stripes a bit like wild boar piglets. They are all magical. I’ve left them feeding from mama.

We are starting weaning on the weekend with some trepidation!

Ah no, poor DH must be gutted about Scrump. I love the subtle stripes on the black ones

Kittenwatch · 04/12/2025 23:15

@Davros we all are but not really if that makes sense?

We always had a home for her but there was a glitch we were waiting to be resolved and I think we thought it might not so got excited but the glitch is resolved (a house move) and therefore Scrump will go where she is meant to.

We will still have Tostada, beautiful mama and her handsome brother. A little three cat family is perfect.

I’m so glad we will have updates on all of them all the time.

. In my area sadly we are inundated with unwanted cats and kittens needing homes due to people not getting their cats neutered, so many unwanted strays due to over breeding.

Where is this please? On here people talk about rescues full of kittens. In RL when both I and my sister who lives 80 miles away, found we couldn't find them anywhere. The only cats available in rescues (and there were many of these...) were semi feral cats, lots were kitten born to feral/semi feral mothers where the rescues only got to them as late as 12+ weeks old and honestly, they would never be good pets, terrified of people. The adult cats had health issues or were spraying. Nowhere had cats or kittens they would let go to a home with kids.

I ended up getting one free from a local lady just like OP who had a litter and she's been the Best Cat Ever.

Davros · 04/12/2025 23:39

@Kittenwatch I’m sure Scrump will be well looked after and loved. But she’s my favourite…

EmpressaurusKitty · 05/12/2025 06:56

The rescue I volunteer for in London always has plenty of kittens.

We took in a family of five tiny kittens last night, abandoned in a box on the local high street by some irresponsible piece of shit who couldn’t be arsed to get their cat spayed & then wasn’t prepared to take responsibility for the inevitable consequences.

(Obviously the OP isn’t at all like this person & I’m not at all referring to her as shit.)

We often rehome to people with kids. We have to rehome because there are always more cats & kittens coming in.

If anyone is in London & looking for a kitten they’re welcome to DM me.

My area is absolutely over run, I’m north west. I had to wait three months to get a stray cat a place in a sanctuary. He was bought as a kitten by a neighbour then not neutered and kicked out when he grew up.

My cat was a semi feral 12 week old kitten who is the best cat ever. Couldn’t pick her up for weeks and now she is the most adorable big baby who doesn’t leave me
alone and sits on my 5 year olds lap at story time.

I think it would be useful if those who genuinely know of a real rescue that really does let cats or kittens go to homes with young children if they could name them please.
You can name change if you want, and then change back, but people looking now and people looking next year and the next would be delighted to find genuine specific information amongst all the anger and accusations. Surely that would be in the interests of both sides.

The same goes for people who genuinely know of a rescue that really genuinely has kittens to find homes for on a regular basis, and what their restrictions are for new owners.

If I was looking right now I'd think twice about posting, and apparently inviting such repetetive useless and sometimes nasty telling offs, but I'd definitely try a few search terms to see if information was already posted.

Strawberryfruitcorner · 05/12/2025 13:37

@eyeses

Most rescues don’t re-home kittens to under 5s because cats need patience and delicate hands to care for them. Rescues are weary that parents won’t manage their child’s behaviour properly in regards to this.

I get the above is totally frustrating for parents whose children are kind and gentle. My 5 year old is one of those children but our rescues were adopted before he was born.

The issue we have in society at the moment is that ALOT of people who let their cat get pregnant, then give away her kittens to people who don’t neuter the kitten. (Not saying this is the OP).
There is a national crisis of homeless cats.
Street life for a cat can be brutal for male cats and extremely dangerous for kittens and mothers.

Ideally what would eliminate this is everyone neutering their cats. As I said we are at crisis point so for me the needs of cats is more important than someone with a kid “needing” a pet.

Anyone who has experience of rescue has seen how devastating not neutering cats can be and that’s why they are passionate and get upset about it not being done. It can literally be a life or death situation.

Strawberryfruitcorner · 05/12/2025 13:41

Also I was 9 when I got my first rescue kittens, most rescues adopt kittens to children this age. Why can’t parents just wait?

eyeses · 05/12/2025 15:09

@Strawberryfruitcorner firstly, thank you for responding, although sadly a different sort of thank you for proving my point. Imagine reading this thread and not already having read over and over and over the 2nd 60% of your response. At least you said it nicely.
Sadly again, you didn't supply the information I was asking for, only the response I specified would put me off asking. But maybe you are just waiting a while to namechange and not be linkable to your other posts, which I'm completely supportive of.

Kittenwatch · 05/12/2025 15:17

@EmpressaurusKitty how utterly reprehensible. Those poor kits and their poor mother. I cannot fathom this.

I knew there would be a lot of time and expense in having them and would never have let her have them if we couldn’t care for them. Poor things.

Here is some floof - they are getting really big and learning to walk very sweetly.

Your little black lad there with the wild boar look has a Classic Tabby forebear in his ancestry. Their graphics are just fabulosa, that swirl on each flank like a cinnamon bun.
A rather delicate conversation with your gorgeous and accomplished little madonna there may be in order, if that stud you picked out for her to ‘marry’ wasn't himself a tabby, perhaps? Had she other swains on call too?
She certainly deserved the best a gal can get, and then some! 🐾😻😽

Hope you are all feeling much better, and the kittens rampaging uproariously 🙀

(Isn’t ‘kitten’ a thoroughly marvellous word? If you had never heard it before, I bet all the same you'd get an image of a tiny cat in your mind’s eye)

When it comes to the suffering of animals which is at a record high in this country, it can not be said enough. End of.

Perhaps, but it can definitely be said too much in one place.

It depends really whether changing people's minds and behaviour towards your cause is your aim, or whether something else is more important than that, like, idk, getting it off your chest, or virtue signalling, or shouting at people with different opinions and experiences, Not pointing any of these at you particularly, but at some posters on this thread.

Repeating it too much, too unpleasantly, too accusingly, or indeed with no solid answers to the resulting questions (e.g. where are these mythical innumerable kittens that I won't be told I can't take home because I have children/a catflap/no catflap/etc) has the opposite effect. Just RTFT if you don't believe me

Still waiting for the answer to the names and contact details of these mythical rescue organisations overun with kittens that can be allowed to have families with children, or in one pp's case by someone of an age that might potentially be able to conceive but is very clear she does not want to ever..

Not just from you, obviously, but if you know of any, that would be very much more persuasive.
