I have recently started a new retail job on minimum wage. My manager decided to promote me to supervisor after only a few days as their previous one dropped out of the role.This is a new store, and the entire team (including my manager) is new. I agreed, read the contracts, and she told other members of the team that I was going to be the supervisor. I obviously told all my friends and was happy with the opportunity.
weeks go by and I hear nothing further, so I ask for an update. she then said this other girl, who had not worked a single shift yet, is now also in the running as she has more experience
I then wait a few more days and I am told I need to battle it out with this other girl and compete to become the supervisor. I am given short shifts were I am never given the opportunity to do anything like this. I have still heard nothing, but the other girl is put on closing shifts and does supervisor duties.
am I being unreasonable or is my boss behaving terribly. what do I say if she ultimately picks the other girl?
