Buying an ex display mattress

I want to buy a better ex display mattress, there’s 2 we like one has a 12 month warranty (we ever so slightly prefer this one) and the other the remainder of the 10 year warranty (different shops) they’ve both been on the shop for 6-8 months they are £3000/£2750 mattresses for sale for £1000. I’m starting to have hot flushes so need something asap as we may as well sleep on a bbq with the current memory foam one and im not sleeping properly because of it. He thinks we should buy a new one for the same money but that is an 8-10 week wait inc Christmas and he’s not keen on buying a mattress online that we haven’t tried if I have a next day mattress with a sleep trial. I’m just not sure I’m not going to boil before then.

am I being unreasonable for considering an ex display one?

I got an ex-display one when I bought my first house - it was fine, lasted ages and meant I got a much better quality one that I would have otherwise
