I think it would be worth it, if you especially wanted to work in the new place - people, actual work, prospects etc. If you like working from home though, that’s a big change. Travel could cost a lot and of course that’s losing a lot of leave. Good luck deciding!

lavendarwillow · 10/11/2025 21:39

YANBU not worth it, time is worth so much more than money (unless of course you really need the extra 9K)!

CoastalCalm · 10/11/2025 21:41

9k is about £100 a week - how much would your commute cost ?

Bitzee · 10/11/2025 21:42

For me it would depend on the details of the bonus scheme. 9k alone wouldn’t convince me to move as post tax and minus the costs of commuting the extra days there won’t be much left, certainly not enough to justify 5 days less holiday and the time lost to commuting.

Beekman · 10/11/2025 21:44

Working one extra day a week and all in person for 9k? No.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 10/11/2025 21:44

Are there better future prospects in the new one? Or is it much the same?

Halfquarterbag · 10/11/2025 21:44

Is it a step in a good direction?

CosySeason · 10/11/2025 21:45

I wouldn’t do it.

Jammington · 10/11/2025 21:46

Pension?
Healthcare?
Flexible working?

But on the face of it. No thanks.

Thank you! Good wishes warmly received.

The job prospects are exciting, more exciting work but also will be more demanding. I wouldn’t mind that but the commute will take a lot of time out of my day. 1.5hr return journey
I do enjoy working from home.

Nope, no way, never. What you’ve got now is my dream set up! 4 days and only 1 in the office is perfect IMO. Commuting adds stress, time pressure, cost. Just not worth it for £9k gross.

My car is quite economical on fuel so about £30 a week.

I should’ve said I often do 2days in the office but that shouldn’t make much difference, I don’t think…

After tax, it would come to £300 extra a month. The £200 after the cost of commenting would most likely go into savings.

I’m going to get some training, which will hopefully be useful for me in the future. However, I could self fund this training.

I’ve gone as far as possible in my current role, as it’s a small department.

I would like to move but I think the change is too drastic. I’m concerned the lack of hybrid working might mean they’re inflexible although they’ve assured me they’re not. They seem really nice though.

I’m thinking it would be best to hold out for something hybrid.

My current pension is better. They do provide healthcare and my current flexible working arrangements are great. They do provide new place won’t come close.

Any more for any more?

It seems the consensus is a no.
