to dislike these types of people?

Purposely obtuse people— I can understand if someone genuinely can’t understand something and needs clarification but I dislike the people who ask questions like “is the grass green” or “why is the sky blue” obviously I’ve exaggerated the questions but do you get what I mean?

chatterboxes— I love a good natter but I’m talking about the people who only want the attention to be on them and how they did this and did that, and when they cut into you when your speaking!! Especially when they try and take the spotlight out of everything you do or interrupt you when speaking with a group of people..

and ageplayers— those people who pretend they are a child (like a ten year old) when they are most obviously not!! “What is sexual intercorse (have probably spelt that wrong..)” “whats a (genital)”… it especially rises with sexual terms or just general basic stuff. I wouldn’t mind if it was somebody relearning or learning English but I absolutely despise people who try to act cute about things like this…

what type of people do you dislike I need to know I’m not just on a rant here…

ah and like the people who try to act borderline crazy/hyper saying they could climb and bungee jump off the Great Wall of china etc… when you ask them to do something like go on a rollercoaster they refuse…

I'm a bit baffled. The only people I know who might ask what a genital was, or what sexual intercourse is, are small children who have inadvertently overheard adults talking and using those words.

As for the green grass and blue sky, I'm not sure?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 10/11/2025 21:16

I'm not quite sure what you mean @ossamu

Thepeopleversuswork · 10/11/2025 21:17

Ditto. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Edited

But surely that's very different to people who are deliberately obtuse.

It seems to me that you've made a list of various kinds of people who you're not keen on.

I’m being a bit hyperbolic.. but in a younger generation (old enough for here), (Generation Z) and the questions they ask are quite idiotic regarding they’ve got about the same amount of experience I have. One of my mates is 17 and whenever we talk about something must add on to ask us what a general term they’ve definitely used before means. It’s mostly a way to act cute and innocent etc…

No, these are the multiple types of people I dislike… was seeing if it was just me, honestly.

OP posts:
Newsenmum · 10/11/2025 21:19

So all of these are people who are pretending to be something theyre not and putting on an act?

ossamu · 10/11/2025 21:20

For context this is the types of people I dislike and many people I know do, but was wondering if it was just me (or essentially me and my friends) or a spread thing… just to see if I’m being a bit hateful for no reason or not…

I get what you mean

user1471453601 · 10/11/2025 21:23

I understand why some people might talk about if the grass is green or the sky blues from a philosophical perspective. As in, do we all see the same thing when we say blue or green? And how can we know?

but in general, if you are not talking about these things in some kind of metaphysical way, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Argh no! I should probably change the questions. Not in a philosophical way. Just people who waste time by asking stupid questions.. am probably going to add context to my post!

Not come across anyone like this

swingingbytheseat · 10/11/2025 21:26

I’ve noticed very few people are good at listening. Lots of people have poor social skills and talk ‘at’ and it’s usually uninteresting. I’d say about 20-30% are good listeners but we can’t all be good at everything

Yes I have a colleague who I really like but she acts really stupid and says stupid inappropriate stuff for a laugh and really she knows exactly what she says like for eg someeone Say oh look at King Charles he is in Canada, she will say who’s King Charles is that those wee dogs that bark all the time? And act like she really doesn’t know King Charles it really wears thin after a
while

Oh god, exactly this. Like please, spare me my temper. But god, not knowing King Charles? Obviously a lie but who would actually believe that? I would rather say I didn’t know who Henry IV was…

I think I'm too old to meet those kind of people (46). But my two teenage boys can drive me nuts with their persuasion tactics so I do get the exhaustion.

HebeMumsnet · 10/11/2025 21:38

Evening, everyone. We've reason to think the OP might be a returning troll so we've seen them to the door.

Notmyreality · 10/11/2025 21:40

Ok

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 10/11/2025 21:44

If they're going to troll us can't they at least make it interesting.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 10/11/2025 21:44

Do you mean people who are deliberately stupid so that they can manipulate others into doing stuff for them? For example I used to have a neighbour who would get me to change her lightbulbs for her because she swore she didn't know how. She was thick as mince, yet she was clever enough to manipulate me into doing stuff like this for her.

Do you mean, for example, when someone hasn’t had sex for a while and someone mentions it and they’re like, ‘’Sex? What’s that?’’ As if to say it’s been so long or they’re so innocent they’ve forgotten what it is? If so, this is meant to be lighthearted OP, you can usually tell by the tone if things are serious or not.

Teanbiscuits33 · 10/11/2025 21:53

or do you mean when people say things like, ‘’would you like a cup of tea?’’ and get the reply, ‘’is the Pope catholic?’’ Like a rhetorical question? Seems like you’re mentioned a few different examples here.
