Anyone up? Feel scared

Mandy237 · 10/11/2025 03:29

So I can’t sleep very well. I keep waking up in a panic, racing heart. I stupidly had a red bull not long before bed as I needed to stay up and get some things done. But I ended up falling asleep but then woke up panicking and the same just happened again. I had a very vivid dream and it was like the room was shaking with loud bangs. I also now have a headache and I felt a bit dizzy when I woke up. I feel scared and it’s just me and my little girl at home. Anyone up to talk? I’m meant to be up in just a few hours for work/school run

The first thing I would do is have a drink of water. You might be dehydrated due to your body trying to flush away the caffeine. I'll PM you so we can chat more privately if you want?

I have woken up feeling like this before but not having had red bull. I suggest you get a large glass of water, drink it, sit up in bed and do some breathing to calm you down, ie in for 4 out for 4.. The panic will be making it a lot worse. Sending calm, as when you are on your own the panic is worse .

DwarfBeans · 10/11/2025 03:38

5 4 3 breathing is good. In for 5, hold for 4, out for 3.

@BeNavyCrab And say what? Are you a qualified practitioner?

Boudy · 10/11/2025 03:42

I am here too. Good advice re water and breathing. It is horrid isn't it feeling like you do but it will pass. Drink some water and breathe.

BCBird · 10/11/2025 03:44

Hi OP. I can't imagine how you are feeling, but i know the once my ex had a Red Bull because he was driving to mine late at night. He wanted to talk about unimportant things but I wanted to 😴. I made him.promise never to do it again. I said I'd prefer him to get a good night's sleep at hime and come early the next day. It was 2 am and he was still wired!! Think it's a good idea to have a drink of water. If u think that u will not sleep, could u try to put on some relaxing classical music on low in the background? Are u able to avoid driving if u feel sleep deprived? Hope you het back into a decent routine. My advice would be not to buy it anymore.

Boudy · 10/11/2025 03:45

There is a breathing/ relaxation thing I have seen on facebook..where there are waves in background and a sphere that goes up gradually where you breathe in then in goes in straight line where you hold for a few seconds then it goes down gradually and you exhale slowly Tis good.

Not all support has to be medically related you know. Some people feel more comfortable to discuss things without it being free for everyone else to see what they are saying. The OP has the choice to choose if they wish to engage or not.Are you going to help the OP or just criticise someone who is willing to, because of how they have chosen to?

Try this (not a dodgy link don't worry!). Its a panic attack talk down. Linda Hall has some great meditations too, it's worth exploring

Hello very early morning to you.

Sorry you’re panicked. This is going to pass. You are going to feel better.

I know it’s been a while since you posted. I hope you drank the water and did some breathing exercises.

You have a beautiful daughter, you’re doing well looking after her. You will plan better for sleep & avoid Red Bull like the plague in future. 🙃

Stroking yourself on the arm or leg will actually have a self soothing effect.

Be kind to yourself.

Shitmonger · 10/11/2025 04:29

How long ago did you have the Red Bull? As I recall caffeine takes around 5 hours to work its way out of your system and Red Bull only has 80mg or so for the regular cans. Hopefully you’re at the end of it and will be able to get some rest. 😴

Around 5 hours ago I would say. I’m still unable to get back to sleep though! Keep analysing every feeling I get

That’s why I don’t drink them, you’ll be ok just sip water, read a book, sit or lie quietly. I’d stay off your screen as shining a light in your face won’t help. It’ll wear off.

Thank you everyone for your tips. I think it’s making it worse as I know I have to be up in a couple of hours for school run and full day at work

Yes,that is understandable op. Like a pp said maybe some relaxing music and breathe. This is a blip..we all have them. All will be well.

Titasaducksarse · 10/11/2025 04:51

Put some solfeggio music on for sleep...that always helps me and I have nightmares/terrors.

Any thoughts between 2 & 6am are normally hard thoughts.

Don’t feed your mind troll. Distract, think peaceful calming thoughts. Drag your mind away from the sticky / hard ones.

You may not get more sleep. But you will rest & you will survive the day. And you will sleep tonight.

FateReset · 10/11/2025 05:15

Handhold here.

It will pass. Deep breathing and curl up in bed if you can. Even an hour of sleep is better than none at all.

If you end up getting up and dressed, as I often do in these situations, take comfort in knowing you won't be the only one doing school run with 0 sleep. Try to catch up during day if possible.

kittyfairy66 · 10/11/2025 05:21
