DD21 boyfriend wants to know her ring size

Hi everyone DD birthday coming up next month and her BF has asked me for her ring size but as I don’t know I said I would let him know. However I have looked to see if she has any rings but I couldn’t find any. So is there a way I can ask her in a indirect way for her ring size 🤔

Tell her you’re considering getting her (and her sister(s) if she has any?) and you a special family ring set for Christmas and you need to know her size? Then she’s expecting a ring but not the obvious one. Or grandma wants to get her a piece of jewelry but you don’t know exactly what type she’s planning, so could she tell you her ring size/bracelet size/etc?

My mum got us rings for a birthday with our birthstones one year so it’s not wildly out of the realm of possibility.

If it’s an engagement ring you might need to know a few fingers which could be tricky. Most rings can be sized after the fact though so just general idea would be helpful.

hairloom rings and other jewellery preferably have a let’s have a look at granny’s stuff and see what she tries on.

Engineer a situation where she tries yours on and see if you can figure it out from that?

You just get her to try on some of yours make a mental note of whether too big/small and then make an educated guess. They can get it changed or resized for sure anyway let's face it this probably happens all the time

Ha, this is a classic dilemma! A few ways that have worked for people I know:

• Borrow a ring she already wears on that hand (even a cheap fashion ring) "to get it cleaned" or "to try something on" and get it sized at a jeweller, or just measure it at home with a ring sizer/string.
• Trace a ring she leaves lying around (bathroom shelf, bedside table are common spots) onto paper — draw round the inside, then a jeweller can size from that.
• Enlist a partner in crime — a sister, close friend, or flatmate who already knows her ring size, or who can nick a ring for an hour without her noticing.
• The "does this fit you" test — some people ask to try on one of her rings themselves under a random pretext, then measure it later.
• If she's had rings resized before, some jewellers keep sizing on file — worth asking if she's used a regular one.

Or, he can get it a bit looser and it can probably be resized! Or a cheap, but nice looking one from ebay-you can get quite nice looking ones for £20 that I can't see look much different to £20k ones, and then they can go and pick one out together?

Or, most people I know went shopping with their by for a ring and he proposed later, this way she gets what she wants and it fits.

DW got me some cheapish rings from Accessorize for an occasion, and used those to size a ring for when she proposed. Otherwise, size big and buy some adjusting bands to secure it if needed.

Hint for Erica, if you’re going to pretend that the knowledge is yours and not copied and pasted from AI you’ll need to remove the dashes and insert commas instead and also remove the bold font. It’ll still read as AI but at least you’ll have made an effort to try and make it look less so.

Why would anyone know another person's ring size? Especially as you don't know which finger? To assume wedding finger could be embarrassing. But then maybe it's his way of asking 'permission' to propose?

He'd have been better off measuring a ring he knows she wears.
