Child benefit rival claim case taking too long?

Long story short ex put in rival claim for CB and I had to send a bunch of evidence to show DD lives with me. He is trying to get access and it's been difficult due to his unreasonable behaviour ( abuse , not providing etc). I had to go to CM, so we get something every week from him because he doesn't bother to buy her anything. Also I don't trust him because he fabricated alot to authorities.

The whole time the CB letters were going to his ( addressed to me) he didn't think to forward them to me which delayed alot.
CB have had my evidence for over a month now and still nothing . Have even phoned them and they said they are still looking at it. Does it take this long or am I being unreasonable because well, there will be thousands of other cases too?

CB claims take ages to sort out. I had a change of claimant case earlier this year (no dispute, agreed between both parties) and it took 4 months to sort out. Even standard new claims are taking months. If they have a lot of evidence to look through I'm guessing your case will take even longer.
