Christmas stuff gone already?!

It’s the beginning of November, I’ve been out and about to get a few Christmas decorations. What I’ve noticed is that the likes of B&M, The Range, Home Bargains are already showing signs of selling out. Some things I know they were selling a few weeks ago, all sold out now. Some shops even reducing from 3 aisles to 2.

Is it like this where you are? It’s daft putting stuff out so early (August!!) and then having stuff coming off the shelves in early November.

On a side note, has anyone else noticed a massive increase in people putting their decorations up this early? Or is that a Tik Tok thing? (No judgement, you do you).

I think its daft putting it all out in august

I think november 1st is when the mainstream shops should have everything go up, as though overnight

But I will be putting up one tree asap 😄😄

Dont stress, its not like more stuff wont replace the stuff thats sold and be replaced with Easter eggs by December.

CosySeason · 05/11/2025 22:07

It’s not surprising when they’ve been selling it since August.

Vickyvogue25 · 05/11/2025 22:10

Are you sure it has all gone, rather than not been put out until after Halloween?

I was in a large Home Bargains on Saturday, there was a full aisle of Halloween themed items still out, I am guessing those will be packed away for next year by now and replaced by Christmas items.

On same shopping trip, I asked in Tesco about boxes of Christmas cards, was told that most of their Christmas items were due to arrive with them on Sunday. So whilst I haven’t been back to check, I assumed that they will backfill Halloween shelves with Christmas stuff this week.

No Decs out yet in my small town.

It's just the first wave, they'll have top up deliveries in the run up.

Vickyvogue25 · 05/11/2025 22:14

Also, my DS worked in Home B from April to Nov 2020, when lockdown cancelled the final months of his degree. He said that the early Christmas stuff hitting the shelves were leftovers from the previous year.

BringBackCatsEyes · 05/11/2025 22:25

No, I haven't seen this at all (though I have not been actively looking).
I see stores clearing areas ready for their Xmas stock.
My local Tesco will not stock cantaloupe melons until after Xmas now to make way for nuts and figs and other stuff we must have yet won't get eaten.
I would expect it all to kick in this w/e with 5th November behind us.

Chocolateismylovelife · 05/11/2025 22:32

I blame the influencers, they have their decorations up early so that you run out and buy it and they earn their commission.

This.

They're just trying to induce panic, so that people stockpile more baubles or some other insane nonsense.

No idea what it's like round here as I haven't even begun thinking about Christmas. Will probably start buying gifts next week though.

Kirbert2 · 05/11/2025 22:36

I'm very grateful that things are out from August time because it means I can spread it out. If nothing was available until November, I'd struggle to afford it all.

AdoraBell · 05/11/2025 22:37

I’ve ordered mince pies on Ocado and most were sold out.

JenniferBooth · 05/11/2025 22:57

I tried to order a No Seven advent calandar last Saturday , the sixty quid one, but they are sold out
Then i saw the same one on e bay marked up to one hundred and fifteen pounds. The same stunt gets pulled with the Kevin the Carrot merch when Aldi release them.

BashfulClam · 05/11/2025 23:04

It all went on the shelves at the end of September. We went to home bargains and it was really quiet and nice to have a wander before the stuff is all trashed, it had just been stocked.

HarrietSchulenberg · 05/11/2025 23:49

Re decorations going up early, someone in the next street to me has their tree up and lit in the front window. Bet she'll be sick of it by Christmas afternoon and taking it down on Boxing Day.

Oabrbjr · 05/11/2025 23:56

It’s all shit that nobody needs anyway.

That said, if you see something in a shop, you can’t rely on it still being there the next time you visit. So it’s worth getting it if you need it.
