Green discharge from nipple - terrified

Promise I’m not a troll or a weirdo and yes I’m totally posting here for traffic. Just took my clothes off to get in the shower and noticed a bit of crusty brown stuff on the tip of my nipple. Gave the nipple a squeeze and some stuff oozed out which upon wiping on a tissue is actually dark green. I’m totally freaked out. I’m 35 with 2 DS’s, 4 and 8. I had a miscarriage 6 weeks ago. I’m definitely not still pregnant or pregnant again. Obviously I’ll be phoning the doctors first thing but I’m panicking. Has anyone has similar and it turned out to be nothing worrisome?

it is probably related to the miscarriage.
hopefully the doctor can set your mind at ease

Thank you I hadn’t considered that. I’m just so thrown by it being green!

The miscarriage is the most likely cause. Bodies are strange and the effect of hormones etc even stranger. Definitely get it checked out but it certainly seems like it could be connected to that.

When I was a teen I had something similar, green but not dark green, and my mum (who was a nurse) said my nipples were just leaking a bit. It was nothing for me really so hope yours is the same. (hugs)

Sounds like duct ectasia: a common, non-cancerous condition where the milk ducts become inflamed and blocked, leading to a thick, green, brown, or black discharge. You should definitely get it checked out but from the information you have given it is unlikely to be anything sinister.

I’d bet my house that it is somehow related to your recent miscarriage (for which hugs), but defo go to the doctor obvs.

Sounds like infection of some sort and the recent hormone change will have probably caused it. Sorry for your loss and hope this is sorted quickly. Do report back as it will help others in future.
