Quitting job after 4 months

I’ve got days off this weekend and honestly, I cannot go back on Monday. There’s so much wrong with the job. I need to just write it down.
We had less than nine days training
We deal with the general public we’re like PCSO’s
But for a private organisation, not the police.
Since joining I’ve been involved in one major life and death incident and numerous others where people could’ve easily been killed, I could’ve been killed for 30 grand a year
We have no help
When we call for assistance, we’ve got as much chance of getting the police’s attention as the general Public does. We’re not a priority.
Generally, they work with us, but they don’t have to
this weekend has been the final straw for me
Somebody was bottled outside a nightclub a young girl was thrown around by her hair
And punched in the face
And I was criticised And told that I could’ve got hurt
I was nowhere near the incident. I was just filming it as is our company policy.
I tried to administer first aid, but they didn’t want it presumably because they were in the wrong and they started the fight. They didn’t wanna hang around for the ambulance or the police.
I’m at my absolute wits end
If I give up this job, I don’t think they’ll let me go back on universal credits
I used to work in an office performing digital transformations. This is so far out of my comfort zone. I don’t even know how I got the job.
Well, I do. I got the job because they wanted somebody normal in the role instead of the usual decades that apply who are police rejects.
But on that subject we’ve got a guy who thinks he’s the team leader but actually isn’t, who’s being disciplined for sexual harassment and currently out on the streets working with young intoxicated women.
It’s an absolute joke.
Surely I can leave ?

Girl leave! You’re not safe

landlordhell · 01/11/2025 21:03

Oh that sounds awful. I would leave but report this seedy guy first.

He’s going through the process.
You just get to the point where you just don’t trust your own judgement any more

What is this organisation?

Are you like a street ranger/street pastor? I work in criminal justice and see cps with street ranger statements, having said that 30k is more than a PC gets. That kind of work isn't for most people, so please do hand your notice in, you shouldn't feel that way about your job, it'll affect your mental health quickly.

Yes
I seem to spend at least one day a week at the police station giving witness statements which is fine. I don’t mind.

It's a hard job because you get a lot of the grief without the powers of arrest, have you considered policing or training as a probation officer?

That’s the perfect Description of it, I definitely don’t want to be a police officer oove seen so many really good decent kind police officers and then you meet that one. And it puts you right off
