When did it become a thing to leave takeaway food on your drive and not ring the doorbell?

Uber are refusing to refund as the food was delivered to my property. They didn't care that they'd made it inedible by not telling me it was there and me finding it 45 minutes later icy cold.

McDonald's are refusing to refund (rightly imo) as they fulfilled their end of the contract.

I only found the bags of food 45 mins after they were delivered as I checked the tracking to see how much longer they'd be, and saw a 45 minute old photo of my back gate with 2 bags outside.

AIBU to think Uber should go through the gate and walk for 3 seconds in order to ring the doorbell? And refund if their drivers don't let you know they've delivered?

PS: Awaiting the predictable MN deflection about the quality of McDs food rather than my actual AIBU 🤣

It’s why I stopped using Uber Eats. I had an order “getting picked up” which I then tracked a driver as they made several deliveries, then watched them return to the restaurant to collect more orders, before delivering mine 40 mins after they left the restaurant. Food was inedible and uber eats refused a refund. Last time I used them.

Did you not get the notifications to say they were on their way and that they'd been delivered?

Yeah. It’s God’s judgement on your poor choices. I’ve never used Uber Eats, but Deliveroo gives constant updates. I’m surprised you didn’t check and just waited around for ever.

Uber Eats is the worst. Delivered food completely smashed and inedible and refused a refund. Never used them again.

Yeah Uber Eats keeps you updated too. It's probably the only thing they're good at 😂

You went 45 minutes without checking your doorstep for the delivery? Why?

Because I was waiting for the doorbell to ring, as it has for every other takeaway delivery I've received in the last 40 years.
