Neighbours music

We've lived here for about six years and the neighbourhood was previously very quiet apart from the neighbours dogs. The dogs are now a lot quieter but the dog owner has instead taken to playing very loud music. I can hear the thumping bass in almost every room of our house even though we are detached houses.

He normally does this at night time which is annoying but not worth complaining about as I can sleep through it but a couple of days ago he was playing it when I went to bed at 11pm, it was still going at midnight when I woke up to check on DD and then it started up again shortly after I got up at 7am. It continued until 11am when I passive aggressively opened my bedroom window to see where the noise was coming from. I normally keep that window shut with the curtains shut as well as it looks right into his front room and what I assume is his bedroom. He clearly realised that it was irritating me as the music immediately stopped and I had one lovely night of peace and quiet. Then yesterday he started playing it again mid morning and it was off and on until I went out in the afternoon.

AIBU to complain to him and ask him to turn it down? I don't mind the occasional bit of noise and just put up with it until now as normal neighbourhood noise but the other day really took the piss and now as soon as I hear that thumping bass it sets me on edge that it's going to continue for the next 12 hours.

That must be loud if you are in a detached house and you can hear it!
