About £60 to £65 a month but rises to £80-£90 when central heating on.

Anewuser · 29/10/2025 12:48

Dual power bill just came in, this month £148.

RaininSummer · 29/10/2025 12:52

was 148 a month but just reduced to 112 as I'm in credit.

FuzzyWolf · 29/10/2025 12:53

Monthly payments are meaningless, you need to know the unit price and daily standing charge.

If you google your EPC then you can see what is expected for heating your property.

MabelsBeats · 29/10/2025 12:56

We pay £585 pcm at the moment. Ffs.

We can’t get gas 🙄 so our electric gets quite high, was surprised that most recent month was only £126 but it has been quite a warm autumn… hope it’s a warm winter as well!
we pay by variable DD, so literally paying monthly for what we use. Can’t bear leaving loads of £ in electric co’s bank acc’s during summer, especially as UK has highest costing electricity, for why??

blizymitzy · 29/10/2025 12:59

We pay £385
old house ,5 bedroom,wood floors

Canopop · 29/10/2025 13:01

£140 4 bed detached 2 little kids

Office365Error · 29/10/2025 13:01

It's better to talk usage imho. We use about 115kwh a month. Standing charge is bloody ridiculous. About 40 quid and change from that I think 17 is the bloody standing charge!
Gas is still around £25 though now.

MabelsBeats · 29/10/2025 13:01

We have a big, old house. But I still can’t fathom it being SO blinking high. In my mind that kind of cost makes me think we’d have to have a permanently heated swimming pool or something for that price to be justified, but not a swimming pool in sight (sadly).

pippapipps · 29/10/2025 13:01

I'm in Ireland and it's been through the roof the last few years ..we get a electricity and gas bill every 7-8 weeks the electricity is around €315 through spring and summer (every 7-8 weeks!!) and around 430€ every bill through winter months
The gas is cheaper but through the winter months again every 7-8 weeks it's about 250/300€ ..cheaper through spring and summer
Absolutely crazy

Mine did exactly the same. Scottish power?

shellyleppard · 29/10/2025 13:05

I pay £122 for gas and electric. Still in credit which is a miracle!!! Two bed semi detached.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 29/10/2025 13:11

Mid terrace 2 bed. Just me though. £46 last month for both combined.

BMW6 · 29/10/2025 13:15

It'll vary tremendously as houses are different types, sizes, locations.

To get a real idea tell us the above info and perhaps those with the same type can answer.

Otherwise its a bit like comparing apples with oranges. Pointless.

halfandhalfchipsandrice · 29/10/2025 13:30

It means nothing as there are people who refuse to have heating on until it gets to 18 degrees or until the middle of November then there are people who's heating comes on at 22 degrees from 5.30am till 8pm.

IkeaJesusChrist · 29/10/2025 13:33

We pay £150 a month but at the minute our actual bill for gas and electricity is less than £100 so we're in credit by £300.

Cinnamon77 · 29/10/2025 13:40

I paid £25 per month in 2018, it's now £75 per month.

The war in Ukraine and money being set aside for Net Zero have been the two biggest drivers for the surge in prices.

Skybyrd · 29/10/2025 14:04

3 bed detached here, 2 adults WFH, with heating on all day as needed to keep the house above 18 degrees c. We pay by variable direct debit (so exactly what we've used each month) and this month's gas & electric was £94. From April until September it was between 50 - 75 a month.
