Why has today been the longest day ever

Been awake since 6am with the kids and I feel like I've lived 3 days since I woke up. Why is today not ending?! It should be 8pm by now!

The clocks changed.

LillyPJ · 26/10/2025 17:58

I agree. I didn't sleep well last night and today's been endless. I wish it was bedtime but it's not even 6pm yet!

Swiftie1878 · 26/10/2025 17:58

Couldn’t agree more! What a day.
And it’s dark before 5.30.

The clocks changed.

Yes I'm aware.

It does feel really long today. I've got lots done which is great, but I can't believe it's only 6pm.

FanofLeaves · 26/10/2025 18:00

Yeah, I was up at 5:45 and would love to go to bed at 6:30 when DS does but my mum is visiting and is keen to spend an evening chewing my ear off about every banal happening she can think of concerning people I don’t know 🫠

Guavafish1 · 26/10/2025 18:00

I’m ill

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 26/10/2025 18:00

It just does that to you. Driving home thinking what a lovely autumn evening then realise it isn't even 5 o'clock. Messes with your head and your body clock.

TeaAndTattoos · 26/10/2025 18:01

I know what you mean I’ve been awake since 9:30 and it feels like it’s 10pm not 6pm feels like it’s been a week since I woke up today has dragged so much.

janehopper · 26/10/2025 18:02

Yeah it feels a bit mad today, more than usual. We accidentally made dinner at 4:30 as we forgot to change the kitchen clock.

OnlyOnAFriday · 26/10/2025 18:02

Thanks to the menopause I was wide awake at 4am 😬

GarlicBreadStan · 26/10/2025 18:07

I napped for an hour today which seems to have sped up the rest of this afternoon 😂 to be honest, the clocks changing never bothers me because I'm always asleep when it happens and I literally never notice when I've got an hour less or more of sleep because I'm always tired anyway 😂

Mumofsoontobe3 · 26/10/2025 18:08

I'm with you OP. Up and down all night with the kids. Up 2 hours earlier than usual, exhausted and the day has just went on and on and on. Kids still need bathed and it's still 2 hours until their bedtime. Longest day ever!

LillyPJ · 26/10/2025 18:10

I usually have my dinner around 7.30 but I was starving by 5.30 (i.e. 4.30!) so had it then. Changing the clocks doesn't usually bother me but it really has today. I'll be having a very early night

traintonowheretoday · 26/10/2025 18:13

I wondered why my kids were up at 5am when I checked my watch - didn’t twig about the clocks going back until about 11am when I was about to lose my 💩 with the general behaviour in the house and TBH it’s only continued. Why do we still have to put up with clocks changing!! Parenting is brutal enough!

thistimelastweek · 26/10/2025 18:13

I love the day with the extra hour.
You can loll in bed and still get up early. It's Sunday so I don't care when it gets dark
I hate the day after. You drive home in the dark and it's always raining.

RampantIvy · 26/10/2025 18:21

Funnily enough it has been the same for me. I woke up early and spent the morning making preserves, and have been binge watching Riot Women (brilliant BTW) this afternoon. It feels like the extra hour has given me a couple more extra hours.

SliceofTosst · 26/10/2025 18:35

It feels like bedtime now. I'm so tired.

traintonowheretoday · 26/10/2025 19:24

@RampantIvy@thistimelastweek guessing you don’t have kids or young ones anyway 😂 I have twins and the clock change appears to have sent them feral

My child is 25 Grin and at university doing a post grad degree.

TeaRoseTallulah · 26/10/2025 20:00

Been awake since 5am after a rotten night's sleep and still only 8pm

loulouljh · 26/10/2025 20:17

Agreed. I want to go to bed,

SeaAndStars · 26/10/2025 20:44

Totally agree. I'm sure I've had a day before lunch and another after.
Ate my dinner then fell asleep in front of the telly. Wondering how early I can go to bed and not feel like I'm 7.
