If someone turns off their read receipts but you press and hold on your message and click info and it shows 2 blue ticks, what does that mean? That they've read it? 🤔

I don't know anything about WhatsApp so bumping for you, because someone will know and may not be rude to you.

Blue ticks means it’s been read.
Two grey ticks means it’s been delivered
One grey tick means it’s not been delivered

What’s the point in this post other than to be unpleasant? What do you get from it?

It doesn’t show the time it was read - so no, you don’t know whether it has been read or not.

Two blue ticks but no time shown means that the op has no way of knowing if the message has been read or not - the recipient has read receipts turned off.

It’s just telling you that two blue ticks means read, not that that particular message has been read.

If someone has read receipts off there is no way of seeing if they have read or not.

No, we’ve just tested it out of curiosity. If they (or you) have read receipts switched off, then the “info” option will only show time delivered (on the grey arrows row), it won’t show anything on the blue ticks row, this stayed the same before and after the recipient looked at the message.

I thought that having read receipts off meant that you can’t see either. Just gone into a chat with someone who I know has read receipts off as their ticks are always grey.
You’re right OP, the messages I know have been read as they’ve replied have blue ticks when you go to info. The word read is next to some and seen next to others. I didn’t know this.
However I would caution against getting too hung up on whether or not someone has seen/read a message. If they want to reply they will. If they don’t then that’s telling you something as well. For some people it’s because they’re busy, and others it’s because they don’t want to. Either way please try not to worry about things you can’t control.

On mine with someone who has receipts off, the blue ticks have a grey dash and no time stamp on the info button.
On a chat where the blue ticks are usually shown then on info the blue ticks have a time under them.

But yeah agree if someone is not replying to you take them as being busy and they'll reply in a couple days. If they have a habit of never replying then either they just don't do messaging or they're rude af and not putting effort into the friendship / relationship. In which case evaluate the amount of effort and energy you give them from yourself.

I think it’s just telling you what the ticks mean rather than if it has been read. I checked two of my conversations. One the person has blue ticks on and one they don’t. Both have been read and replied to. This is what mine look like on both. (Pictures take a while to show up)

So I've compared someone with read receipts off to someone with them on and they say the same in the info.

I reported it and just had message to say it’s been deleted. Could put people off posting.

Why would it put people off? It was a different take and the need to know if messages are read is unnecessary. People who have turned it off have done so for a reason and tend not to want to be stalked.

I just tried it and if the don’t show read receipt is used, it doesn’t matter if you press on it or not it doesn’t tell you if it’s read or not.
