In a house front window...

Madness or no...

Are they planning on putting a sheet over it to make a Halloween ghost 🙄

ListOfJobsKeepsGrowing · 24/10/2025 18:46

I thought the same when I saw someone had one up yesterday.

At least wait for Halloween and Bonfire Night to be over!

If it was a real one , it will be just withered branches by Christmas ! 😂

Superhansrantowindsor · 24/10/2025 18:47

I’d put mine up now if I could be arsed going in the loft.

vincettenoir · 24/10/2025 18:50

It’s too early for me but I won’t judge. It feels pretty wintry today and it’s good to give yourself a bit of a lift / stoke some unnecessary outrage.

geekone · 24/10/2025 18:51

Are you sure it wasn’t a tree decorated for Diwali?

PinkyFlamingo · 24/10/2025 18:51

Each to their own. I will never understand the cries of "it's too early", Who cares what others do! Mine will be up after Halloween and no I don't get fed up with it come Christmas! 😂

stargirl1701 · 24/10/2025 18:52

Before Remembrance Day is just crass.

I fear you’re missing the point of most of MN 😀

AmethystAnnotation · 24/10/2025 18:55

Snap! I just saw my first thread about Christmas trees going up too early! 😁

FeedMeSantiago · 24/10/2025 18:58

One of my neighbours put theirs up in September. They have been putting their tree and lights up early for the last few years.

Sleepyandtiredandlazy · 24/10/2025 19:10

I used to know a family that kept their tree up all year.
In the summer it would be pushed into a sort of alcove at the back of the room.
They were all alcoholics though. If thats any defence.

BlossomLeaves · 24/10/2025 19:14

If it makes them happy and isn’t harming anyone then why not 🤷‍♀️

DickDewey · 24/10/2025 19:19

I’d judge. Absolute simpletons.

FourChimneys · 24/10/2025 19:21

I am indifferent to Christmas and largely ignore it. I don't care when people do their decorations, I have fairy lights up all year round.

However, there is a house near me with a Christmas tree in the window. My neighbour said that the Dad has cancer, perhaps they are doing Christmas early if his prognosis is not good.

Let's not judge anyone else's choices.

caringcarer · 24/10/2025 19:23

Birmingham put their Xmas tree up last week.

ClashCityRocker · 24/10/2025 19:24

There's someone on our street who has theirs up. The gentleman who lives there isn't expected to see Christmas so they're celebrating early.

I'm end of Nov/early Dec myself depending how the weekends fall. Id imagine I'd get sick of it if it went up now, but that's me. It doesn't do any harm and I can't imagine getting anything more than mildly bemused about it

Leapingtiger · 24/10/2025 19:24

each to their own I suppose

ThisCanFuckOffToo · 24/10/2025 19:26

A few years ago I’d have been outraged.

Now I just think people should do more of whatever makes them feel happy and at peace with the world, and if that’s putting a Christmas tree up in October then more power to them!

Cravey · 24/10/2025 19:27

My brother and partner have a tree up, his partner is from the Philippines and they start Xmas in September. Would drive me mad but makes them happy.

Burnout50 · 24/10/2025 19:41

Yeah, I don't really care. Just think it's mad...
Not diwali, clearly a (fake) xmas tree. So I'm sure it'll last the test of time

AutumnCosy2025 · 24/10/2025 22:52

Pubs/Restaurants around here have had theirs up all month & one of them in particular. usually hosts a big Halloween party, it'll be interesting to see if they do this year or not.

i had a meeting 2 weeks ago & the brewers fayre had their Christmas trees & decs up already

personally I'm enjoying all things Autumn at the moment.

Eenameenadeeka · 25/10/2025 00:51

Well I've just seen a post from a family with children who are celebrating early because the mother is dying and she won't make it to Christmas. So maybe it's something like that. Whatever the circumstances, it doesn't impact your life at all so no need to judge them.
