May we get sick from this?

This is a cafoutis type cake we have just eaten, but the wet dense texture has me worried. The DC have had some too and I can get a bit anxious around food poisoning. What do you think?

Yanbu - yes that looks underbaked and is a risk
Yabu - you'll be fine!

Why would an under-baked Clafoutis make you sick ?

squashyhat · 19/10/2025 18:50

No

SmellsLikeTeenArmpit · 19/10/2025 18:50

That's just what clafoutis is like. Why would it make you sick?

JaneJeffer · 19/10/2025 18:50

You may not

NeverDropYourMooncup · 19/10/2025 18:50

Nope.

fost · 19/10/2025 18:51

you will be absolutely fine and none of you will get sick. it's not even close to being risky.

CleanShirt · 19/10/2025 18:52

JaneJeffer · 19/10/2025 18:50

You may not

I've had a couple of glasses and this made me do a big guffaw

Lurker874 · 19/10/2025 18:52

There's nothing in a clafoutis that would make you sick if it was raw, let alone slightly undercooked - unless perhaps the eggs smelt totally rotten when you cracked them. What makes you think it could make you sick?

Adooree · 19/10/2025 18:53

There is nothing in that which will make you ill . Don't forget loads of people would happily eat raw cake mix even giving their kids the mixing bowl to scrape out .

Jackiepumpkinhead · 19/10/2025 18:53

May you get sick? If you really want to 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hoppinggreen · 19/10/2025 18:59

Does it have raw meat in it?

ArtichokesBloom · 19/10/2025 19:00

Are you often anxious about this sort of thing? I'd eat that uncooked without worrying (but would prefer cooked)

NotForTheMoneyandNotForTheApplause · 19/10/2025 19:02

Is everyone else thinking - that looks like a perfectly normal cake?

Do you have health anxiety?

DwarfBeans · 19/10/2025 19:03

Huh? Did you bake it yourself? How old is it? I mean if it was baked and left uncovered in a fridge for days on end then maybe. How can anyone answer without more info? Did your MIL bake it? 😂

Cantbebotheredwithausername · 19/10/2025 19:03

Looks delicious.

Even raw eggs are fine safety-wise. Under-cooked eggs in a cake is perfectly fine. You'll be fine.

AmethystAnnotation · 19/10/2025 19:04

Be my guest!

TeenLifeMum · 19/10/2025 19:05

Don’t you lick the raw mix from the bowl? (Best part of baking). You’ll be fine.

KissMyArt · 19/10/2025 19:05

You can if you want to.

Thepeopleversuswork · 19/10/2025 19:06

No.

Starwomanwaiting · 19/10/2025 19:10

Even if the egg was raw you’d be fine. Unless you’re in America? They are weird about eggs but in the UK they are safe.

Do you think you might have health anxiety? It’s very treatable if so.

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 19/10/2025 19:16

I wouldn't want to eat a Yorkshire pudding with fruit, but it wouldn't make me sick.

TotallyUnapologeticOmnivore · 19/10/2025 20:01

You may if you wish. None of us can stop you, but it is polite of you to ask.
