Bad hair cut?

hairgairhair · 17/10/2025 19:52

Bad hair cut? What do I do about it.

Don't have time to go and ask them to redo and um feeling a bit vulnerable to see them again.

Any ideas what they did wrong? Was £40 wash and cut and blow dry

Why on earth have they done the layers like that?

Maybe try putting it up until you can get back and get it fixed, I'd ring them tomorrow and let them know you're unhappy.

Wherethewildthings · 17/10/2025 20:09

Crikey. That's not good. Did they not ask you to look down while they cut?! Are they a trainee? I think you need a full refund and to go somewhere else, that's awful. Sorry you've had that experience.

Thanks. The layers aren't even are they. Or blended

Yes they did..no it was £40, that's not trainee fees is it? I hope she doesn't own the salon

I wouldn’t go back to that salon. I would ask friends first recommendations and go somewhere else. Your hair is a beautiful colour and looks in great condition but they have messed up the layers.

Clearinguptheclutter · 17/10/2025 20:13

It looks like a proper hack job. Sorry OP.
Put it up for now. A decent hairdresser should be able to blend in the layers I reckon without chopping off the length

that said I had terrible layers put in once and I had to just get them all cut out the next day by a proper hairdresser- she agreed the haircut could not be salvaged

She asked me when I was going for more highlights lol.

Unfortunately I don't have time to get my hair cut again :(

I would send them the pic and demand a full refund. Tell them it's totally unacceptable. And go elsewhere to fix it. Your colour is nice though.

If they offer you to go back say frankly you do not trust them as that haircut looks like it was done by someone wearing a blindfold on a person jumping up and down on a space hopper.

Fiftyandme · 17/10/2025 20:17

That’s truly truly awful.

Whyjustwhy83 · 17/10/2025 20:19

@hairgairhair definitely uneven, sorry it does look really bad.

Marylou2 · 17/10/2025 20:19

Oh bless you that's a shocking job.

Middlemarch123 · 17/10/2025 20:20

Did they straighten your hair? If you let it dry naturally and put rollers in when damp, then take out when dry, it could look good with wavy curls that disguise the poor layering. If you don’t do that, I’d wear it in a messy updo, and have a better stylist cut it in a long bob to get rid of the layers, when you have time. Condition and colour is lovely.

SeaAndStars · 17/10/2025 20:21

My husband cut my hair in the garage during lockdown and it was better than that. What was she thinking?

Oh OP, get a refund and go somewhere else. Love your colour though.

Endofyear · 17/10/2025 20:26

I would definitely ask for a refund. Take someone with you if you're not feeling up to it on your own. Have you got an assertive friend who would go with you? Then go to a different salon to get it sorted out.

It probably depends whereabouts you are in the country. That would only be the junior in my salon. They’d be supervised better than that though!

Yes and she tried her hardest to hide it.

Obviously I should have said something but I was also going to be late for nursry pick up as well as having issues with just about everything else today. Sometimes things don't look as bad when you get home

Oh my. Maybe send her this marked up pic. It doesn't help you're collapsed through your right, that will skew how things look, but it's undeniable it's unbalanced and uneven.

You can clearly see the difference in layers (red shoulder marks) and random length (green). The yellow shows even centre back isn't balanced.

Hairdresser here ! That was cut by someone who obviously doesn’t know how to cut layers properly and if that’s the case that’s why they haven’t been blended in either !
take this pic or yourself as your hair like that and ask for a refund it’s a pretty easy fix for someone that knows what they’re doing !
Don’t let them redo it ! That’s not a mistake that is incompetent hairdresser !

Luxio · 17/10/2025 20:51

Honestly I'm not one to care much what my hair looks like but there's absolutely no way I'd let anyone at that salon try and fix my hair. That's a truly terrible botched job and you absolutely deserve a full refund. I'm sorry you felt so rushed to speak up at the time but don't let them brush you off.

Doubt I would get a refund as it's a cash only sort of place . Didn't realize that until I called to confirm today.

A senior stylist would correct ! If it was a junior stylist or a trainee they would have been supervised and cut would be checked after she/he had finished! And just because it’s cash only doesn’t mean they can’t refund you x
