DH sniffing all the time driving me mad

DH has a cold. Every 20 seconds he sniffs. If I ask him to blow his nose he gets cross and whines it ‘doesn’t work’. Honestly it makes me wonder why the fuck I’m with him.

AIBU to keep on at him to blow his nose? I could scream.

This would drive me INSANE. Tell him to blow his fucking nose, repeatedly. Threaten him with death.

Stick a couple tampons up his nose.

Its not his fault that his nose is running or feels uncomfortable and he has the urge to sniff. I can report that blowing doesnt work a lot of the time. I can have liquid running out of my nose that is not affected by blowing it. When sinsus are heavy and thick, you just have to wait for it to clear, colds, coughs etc are a waiting game

Its not your fault you find the sniffing annoying but theres nothing he can do

Just be in different rooms for a bit and remember that theres probably little tics and foibles you have too that are annoying

Agree , if I blow my nose when I have a cold, nothing comes out.

Blowing has never worked for me

Much as I ABHOR sniffing, as PPs have said, when you have a cold then blowing your nose doesn't do much.

Just holding a tissue to his nose might lower the sniffing frequency.

Im always amazed at how little tolerance people have for the people they claim to love. He is poorly and blowing your nose will do nothing.

If I blow my nose I get a nosebleed, so I wouldn’t be doing it no matter how much you nagged me about what to do with my own body. Leave him alone, FFS.

Ergh my mum does this. I say to her “have you got another cold” “blow your nose it’ll help you get better sooner” I’m hoping she will change this god awful habit soon.

I was going to suggest Vicks vapo rub but I reckon your idea might work better 😂

Get him a nasal decongestant such as Vicks Sinex Soother or Sudafed. Works wonders!

They really dont and they're only for very short term use.

They make no difference to my nose.

I worked with someone who did this. It drove me insane!

I’m sure I read somewhere that it could be neurodivergent stimming.
