AIBU to be sick of the posts on social media complaining about this? Whinging about consumerism, about how some people can’t afford to spend as much as others do on it so some people might feel bad about how much they’ve bought?

At the end of the day it’s going to people in need and people should just do it for the sake of being kind!

I mean my social media has nothing about whatever this is.

I presume you've clicked on one post and your algorithm has hit you with it repeatedly.

Admittedly I did comment on a video that it doesn’t matter if it’s “consumerism” because it’s for people who need it

What is being bought/delivered?

Simplygreen · 15/10/2025 21:14

I agree with a lot of the complaining posts. Lots of influencers taking part in this for the engagement and not following the wishes on the tag, filling their gift bags with cheap tat from Home Bargains/B&M instead of what was actually asked for. It would be better for them to take 1 tag and spend the same money buying quality items, but of course this won’t get as many likes.

Don't understand 🙄

The one I have seen was a child asking for Sylvanian families. She got one small set then a mountain of cheap bath products/sweets/socks etc that wasn’t requested.
