Embarrassing lump? Anyone had this?

I wonder if anyone can ease my mind.

I have had a lump to the right and near the opening of my vagina (slightly lower down between opening and anus) for about ten years. I saw about it once but I was actually getting seen by a nurse for something else. It’s never change, sometimes it’s bigger sometimes it’s smaller but most of the time it’s the size of a pea. Moveable, a little squidgy but not entirely. Never had bother with it.

I heard a story today about vulva cancer and I am now bloody terrified!! I realise having a non changing non growing lump for ten years is unlikely to be horribly serious but… anyone has this?

Sounds like a Bartholin cyst to me, or some other ordinary benign cyst. They’re really common.

Sometimes they grow quite large and sometimes they can get infected and painful, but they can also just be there and stay the same for years without ever causing a problem.

As you say - if you’ve had it for ten years and it hasn’t really changed, it’s not likely to be anything sinister at all. But see your GP for a proper diagnosis or advice about it.
