To get my belly button pierced at 45

I’ve just lost 3 stone and am now slim. My birthday is in January and as a reward for losing weight and keeping it off I really want to get my belly button pierced. I have had four kids so while my stomach is flat the skin is a little bit wrinkly - doesn’t stop me from wearing a bikini but not as taut and smooth as in my 20s. My fitness goal is to work on my abs and I’d love to have some muscle definition but not sure this is achievable for me. I don’t really show my midriff so I guess the piercing would be just for me except on beach holidays but I can’t stop thinking about it. Is it weird for someone my age with a not perfect tummy to consider this?

Go for it! Why should age stop you? You’ll feel fabulous and if you end up not liking it you can take it out. Congrats on the weight loss and enjoy the incoming abs!

Not weird at all. It wouldn’t be even if you were 80. It’s your belly button..you can do whatever the hell you want with it. Will some people find that weird? Probably. Let them. It’s not their belly button sooo..the opinion that other people have about this or you is, luckily, doesn’t have to be any of your concern. Just a note though - be careful when towel drying - the jewellery can get snagged if you’re not careful!

Go for it if you don’t like it you can always remove it.
I just removed the two I had because I have the opposite problem and got fat!
I loved it. Just be very careful it doesn’t catch on clothing, loofah scrub thing or towels. It hurts a lot!

Do it! I was a teen when it was all the rage and I have never taken it out, even at my heaviest weight of 18 stone. I’m a lot lighter now post MJ and I don’t care I’ve got loose skin. It does take a while to heal. I’ve had mine over 25 years now. 🤣

GET IT I just got my nose pierced at 35 and I love it

IfHeWantedToHeWould · 12/10/2025 07:30

Why not? Since I’ve hit my 40s I’ve had my nose done and all sorts of ear piercings.

Just go to a reputable piercer who can check you’ve got the right anatomy. I want mine done too!

BlossomLeaves · 12/10/2025 07:31

Do it! I had mine done at 18. Took it out when I got pregnant but now in my 40s with a far from perfect post two c-sections belly I’ve been considering getting it redone.

thisishowloween · 12/10/2025 08:07

Just make sure you have the right anatomy - and be aware they can be a nightmare to heal as they rub on a lot of clothing.

Flomingho · 12/10/2025 08:34

Go for it! Well done on your weight loss.

I am 46 and wear what I want . I feel and look better at this age then when I was 18. My DD had hers done a year ago and it has only just properly healed, as long as there is good aftercare it should be fine.

Americano75 · 12/10/2025 08:36

Go for it!

Goditsmemargaret · 12/10/2025 09:07

Well I got mine pierced at 20 when I was fairly plump. It didn't even occur to me that I shouldn't because of my non washboard stomach.

Ladyzfactor · 12/10/2025 09:09

Go for it. I'm about to turn 46 and would love to have more piercings but unfortunately my body rejects a lot of metals so I'm super cautious about getting any.

333FionaG · 12/10/2025 09:10

I’d love to have a sparkly belly button piercing. Do it!!

McGregor33 · 12/10/2025 09:12

I got mine redone at 33, 3 kids later and a lot of stretch marks and wrinkly skin and it’s made me feel so much better ☺️
