To send my DS to nearest school?

We have one primary school within walking distance. Ok reputation locally. But also have some "outstanding" village schools within a 5-10 minute drive that other friends are putting as their preference. AIBU to pick nearest school due to convenience?

Are they oversubscribed? Could you walk to them as five mins in the car is often only a mile or so? If they are significantly better then yes, is definitely be considering them. But if you're out of catchment and they're oversubscribed anyway you'll get your local one regardless.

We went with the closest primary as it’s in the village. It’s also ‘ok’ but it depends what you mean by ok, that’s a wide range to me.
