To Have Never Understood This And Think It’s Crazy?

When I was 8 I occasionally had a portable TV - way before internet days, just for context.

Anyway, the TV wasn’t always in my room - sometimes in my parents’ etc etc

One day I went to my Mum and asked if I could have the portable TV for a bit.

She said in a very stern voice:

”yes, but I don’t want you to WATCH it”

Am I right to think this is absolutely crazy??

BATSHIT!

Maybe she thought you could use it as a prop in an imaginative game? But yes, proper bonkers, your Mum.

How many years have you been thinking about this?

It is odd. To be thinking about it for years is also odd!

Was she big on you using correct grammar?
You asked to have to TV not watch the TV so was she being picky about your choice of words??
But..... sometimes people are just weird. Including mums.

I think I'd have assumed she was joking.

I think I'd have assumed she was joking.

That’s the thing - knowing my mum she definitely wasn’t !! 😮

don’t think jokes were on her radar !
