When I was 8 I occasionally had a portable TV - way before internet days, just for context.

Anyway, the TV wasn’t always in my room - sometimes in my parents’ etc etc

One day I went to my Mum and asked if I could have the portable TV for a bit.

She said in a very stern voice:

”yes, but I don’t want you to WATCH it”

Am I right to think this is absolutely crazy??

Maybe she thought you could use it as a prop in an imaginative game? But yes, proper bonkers, your Mum.

But..... sometimes people are just weird. Including mums.

I think I'd have assumed she was joking.
