School trip to Synagogue?

Would welcome views on this- trip is in 2 weeks for year 1 and 2. I would love my child to go but have safety concerns following the Manchester attacks and current climate. We are in an area where the local police are saying they've stepped up their presence around the local synagogues. i'm very sad to be feeling this way so looking for advice to better inform a decision

The attack was very specifically on Yom Kippur when the synagogue was full of devout Jews worshipping. Not a random day with a bunch of school children. Anything could technically happen at any time anywhere..Ariana Grande Concert, a London bus, a Christmas Market. I would not see an issue.

I'd think there's more chance of a road accident on the way there.

It’s fine. The worry is in relation to Jewish people being targeted while practising their faith, which happens at specific times. No one is interested in a random school trip.

Sadly, most synagogues are heavily guarded these days and the Manchester synagogue was gated so I think your DC will be quite safe. Good on the school for the visit going ahead

Probably the best time to go to be honest. You never hear about 9/12 do you

Synagogues sadly have tight security. The attack in Manchester could have been a lot worse, sorry to say, if it wasn't for the security measures in place. Also, it's important he goes, to learn about the religion, culture and a little history.

I work on the Tube & unfortunately found myself dealing with the aftermath of one event. But it was a long time ago, and all the circumstances were very different. I'm not a security expert by any stretch, but I think it's likely your child's trip will pass without incident.
