Body Odour Soap

Whats the best soap for getting rid of body odour under arms.

I feel its not well advertised in supermarkets.

Example Dove bar is not a soap. Its a beauty bar. But does that mean it doesn't work enough to be clean all day?

I normally use bodywash cheaper or more expensive.

shield soap works really well

Agreed. It's sold as "deodorising soap" and I've used it for years. Lovely smell.

Dettol do an antibacterial soap - I've never tried it, but might be worth a go. I also find that anything with tea tree or peppermint cleans really well, without being too harsh.

I agree with the Dettol soap. I thought it would have that antiseptic smell of the Dettol liquid but the soap smells really nice and is very gentle on the skin.

Cidal soap is antibacterial, smells lemony fresh and is 99p for a 2 pack in most supermarkets.

it did have that smell a few years back and i LOVED it, always made me feel really clean too but ive now got used to the new smell and always use it instead of shower gels now. also agree its not at all harsh on the skin, in fact it helps me with blemishes

Another vote for dettol soap. I get dry skin and I find it fine. Works really well. I’m guessing the sweaty smell is bacteria, and it’s antibacterial.

DrUptonsGardenGnome · 07/10/2025 22:45

Sulphur soap is another option. It’s naturally antibacterial. I haven’t seen it in supermarkets but you can buy it on Amazon. There are varieties with vitamin e or almond oil to prevent dry skin.

We use Sanex. It’s gentle but does the job. I have a very stinky teen.

lovemycbf · 08/10/2025 00:23

I use either Palmolive or imperial leather bars of soap and don’t have a problem

I love fragrant shower gels and dove beauty bars but i am careful about perfume in the nether regions. I sweat loads at exercise, and definitely pongy afterwards, even with antiperspirant, and find that using unperfumed plain white soap like simple (or 4 bars for 1.50? from lidl) works the best with a shower puff for getting rid of smells.

The only thing is you do have to clean the shower more as soap creates a scum and shower gel doesnt.

I second shield soap, then shower gel afterwards.

What does that actually mean?

What's in soap thats not in a Dove bar?
Because people say this all the time on MN but it makes no sense to me.

The other comment people come out with is shower gel is a detergent but not soap, what is in soap thats not in shower gel?

Why not just ditch the shower gel altogether?
