Car warranty - whats reasonable

I need some opinions of where to go next. Early this year I brought a car 8 months old, with a faulty rear parking sensor. The garage said it would be fixed under warranty within a week, it wasn't. The garage have now had my car for two lots of two weeks and we are no further forward. The next step is to remove the rear bumper of the car and replace it, I thought they'd done this but clearly not.

I've been told this might fix the problem and as its a huge job, staff holidays and sickness it could be two weeks to try this. If this works, they'll then order new parts for my car.

I understand it's been hard to identify the problem but in total they have had the car 5 weeks to repair. I'm really cross as I hate the courtesy car and I just want my car that I purchased for and awful lot of money. I'm not being dramatic as I feel I should have a working car by now. The manager of the garage is calling tomorrow and I'm trying to think of the best way to handle this. Should I sack it up? Should I demand some money off? Compensation?

Thanks!

You’ve given them an opportunity to repair it. They haven’t.

Moneysavingexpert has absolutely loads of advice on your rights when buying a faulty vehicle, depending on how you bought it and what they claimed about it when they sold it, along with what you should reasonably expect from a secondhand car.
They also have draft letters to help you get the problem resolved. I found them very helpful when I bought a car and the engine exploded 3 miles down the road.

@Darragon I've been reading but it's so confusing. Your experience sounds awful, and scary. I hope it turned out well in the end for you.
