Red wine, almost one week, what are we saying?

I opened a bottle on Tuesday and promptly got so ill I’ve barely moved.
Today I feel human, and I hate waste too much to just chuck it. Also really just want a nice meal and a couple of glasses to try and favour what’s left of my weekend now I can breathe again.

DH had put it in the fridge so it’s been chilled and had a lid on (screw top, it’s not fancy 😅)

Smells fine, looks like red wine wine, how bad could it be?

Red wine last 3-6 days once opened. Higher the tannins and alcohol content, the longer it’ll last.

Try it. If it tastes ok, it’s ok.

Taste it and you’ll know if it’s still enjoyable or not.

I've just done roast beef in red wine and that bottle had been opened for the best part of a month (I know it wasn't drinking it, but it smelled ok and I'm pretty sure it would have been all right to drink). Still standing, so...

Taste test. It’ll probably be fine, but it’ll taste vinegary if not. But I’d guess it’s absolutely fine.

If it tastes different to you, do what the Spanish do and add a drop of coke to make a Kalimotxo. 😊

It won't harm you (after all, if it's turned it will be somewhere between wine and vinegar) so taste a tiny bit and see if it tastes bad to you. I'd have expected it to start to turn if it's been 6-7 days, but something like a Cab or Shiraz/Syrah may still be OK. It smelling normal is a good sign ...
