Are you drying it after your shower / bath , as in not just rubbing the towel over you but really making a thing of properly drying it ?
I'm guessing it's a bit of a innie so water goes in and it goes soggy .
Put some sudocrem in it if it's sore .

Clean with a cotton bud then stick some Canesten cream on it. That'll sort it quickly.

Even if it’s infected. ? All red and sore and got pus in?

It's a fungal infection.

Octaviathethird · 05/10/2025 15:45

I get this, mine is an innie but it goes really far in. The nurse told me to clean it with a swab and sterile (boiled and cooled) water, then dry it thoroughly with another swab, once a day for a couple of weeks, this always clears it up for me.

Bathe with some sea salt water and make sure it's dry after washing

Skybluepinky · 05/10/2025 15:45

Spray with daktarin spray.

Chazbots · 05/10/2025 15:46

Especially if it's got an infection, get it cleaned out and then use something to dry the area each time you get wet, if you're prone to these infections. Salty water if you don't fancy Canesten.

Dry properly and use canisten ointment, that will clear it quickly.

OSTMusTisNT · 05/10/2025 15:48

What do you do for work? Just asking as my hair stylist ended up needing surgery on an abcess caused by a stray hair.

NapoleonsToe · 05/10/2025 15:49

Canestan will clear it up. Once it's better, always dry with a hairdryer to stop it returning.

Namenamchange · 05/10/2025 15:51

Yes, but only since I started HRT.

WIcurious · 05/10/2025 15:53

Use hibiscrub to wash it.

AnnaMagnani · 05/10/2025 15:55

It will be a fungal infection. Clean it, dry it and put some Canesten in there. Repeat for a week and problem solved.

I kind of can’t believe I’m saying this out loud but I have ear calm which is available otc for my ears (suffer from outer ear infections) & if my belly button gets sore I spray ear calm in it 🤣

Balloonhearts · 05/10/2025 16:27

Wash it with saltwater, dry it properly and stick some antiseptic in it.

I burnt mine doing this!

I occasionally get swimmer's ear, which is a fungal infection caused by water being trapped in your outer ear. I went to the doctor about it, because initially I didn't know what it was, and she said that you can buy drops for swimmer's ear that you put in your ear after you shower that help dry up the water. But the drops are basically just rubbing alcohol. So I'm wondering if you could dip a q-tip in a little bit of rubbing alcohol after you get out of the shower to help dry inside your belly button. After you have resolved this issue of course.

You need to use the cool setting.

thisishowloween · 05/10/2025 18:36

Are you diabetic? Fungal infections like this can be especially common in diabetics.

I suffered terribly with recurrent infections in my belly button following lots of surgery, fucidin cream helped then after bathing or showering use aquacel ribbon in your belly button it draws out excess moisture
Also helps with the soreness

Ahsheeit · 05/10/2025 19:33

Yes, when red and sore as it's a fungal infection.
