Peri insomnia again

humptydumptyfelloff · 04/10/2025 01:44

So I’m now figuring out the pattern in my cycle

week before af and I’ve had palpitations on and off,I’ve woke up three days in a row swealtering and just bloody hot in general

and all week my insomnia is horrendous.

still nowhere near tired enough to go to bed and it’s now driving me absolutely mad

would I be unreasonable to sit in the garden under the pergola in the wind and rain to cool down and nod off Confused

No advice just solidarity from another mumsnetter who can’t sleep 😫

Lurleenlumpkin79 · 04/10/2025 02:22

Yeah I can relate and it sucks. I have just changed my diet to increase protein and that seems to be making me sleep better. In fact the opposite now I'd say. I work nights, hence why I'm awake now. 😂

DorothyStorm · 04/10/2025 02:29

Personally, I am no issues with insomnia…

… spots it is 2.30am…

Pollypolls · 04/10/2025 03:02

🙋‍♀️ I’m also poorly which doesn’t help but utterly sick of it. I would totally sit in garden in your position. Only if safe from storm related buffeting though.

DorothyStorm · 05/10/2025 02:17

We meet again 2.30am

😫

A fellow insomniac here, it arrived with force in peri and although am now mid 60s has never gone away, bloody nightmare (no pun intended) and I used to nearly lose my mind but just live with it now as am so used to being awake all night

Imanautumn · 05/10/2025 02:27

awake here too!

Squirrelsnut · 05/10/2025 02:30

Have you tried HRT? Cured my insomnia.
I know I'm up very late but that's because I had a huge afternoon nap. 😀

Raspberrymoon49 · 05/10/2025 02:40

Have been on HRT for a long time and unfortunately hasn’t helped the insomnia

Beekman · 05/10/2025 03:02

I was there, OP. It’s bloody awful, isn’t it? Sleep is the key to everything.

Things that helped:

Magneisum glycinate before bed
A fan on my face in the bedroom
Eyemask and earplugs (worth investing in a decent pair rather than the cheap foam ones)
THC gummies (CBD also decent if THC not legal where you are)
Electrolyte drink daily (sugar free for me). I was dehydrated and this was exacerbating my restless legs and therefore my sleep but now this has all but gone now.

Who knows if any of them actually changed a thing but I do feel like they have helped and I am getting more sleep so I’m claiming the win.

Beekman · 05/10/2025 03:02

Think my previous post has been hidden because I mentioned weed gummies

Antigny86 · 05/10/2025 03:20

Try magnesium oil comes in a spray, transdermal. Worked on me like an instant miracle. I used to be awake until about 6 am and then have to get up at 6.30 for work. It was a total nightmare plus the anxiety and the sweating. I discovered it because of the really bad leg cramps I was getting. I have told coworkers who all loved it when they tried it. I am only awake now like pp cos I had 2 sleeps today. Good luck!

Namechange822 · 05/10/2025 04:39

I feel for you. I have no issue with getting to sleep in the evening, but it’s 4.30 and I’m wide awake for the day with no chance of going back to sleep!
