Hello, up to present time, I’ve been using a pen and paper to create my shop list.

However. I’d love your recommendations for a simple free app from the App Store.

Thanks in advance…

Have a look at OurGroceries is my suggestion.

I use my Alexa. I ask her to put things on my shopping list and she sends it to my phone

KnickerlessParsons · 03/10/2025 12:23

Could you use the Notes app that comes with the phone?

Same it’s much easier to shout to Alexa when I need things, problem is I’m Scottish so sometimes she puts really weird names down and I have to work put what it is. ‘Girl Sticks’ was the latest wonder…it was Grill Steaks. I should really listen when she reads back what she has put into the list.

Just use the notes app, it will already be on your phone

Another notes user here

If you shop at Tesco the in store shopping list on the app is great. Gives you aisle numbers too. I’ve saved so much time since I started using it by cutting out all the unnecessary going and froing.

But actually, pen and paper is much easier 😁

BakingHotInSunnyClimate · 04/10/2025 06:51

Thanks everyone, I’ll give your ideas a shot.

If you're finding you're toing and froing (autocorrect really doesnt like that phrase) in the supermarket you might be doing it wrong, walk up and down the aisles like a normal person 😁

Low tech works for me too, do people's phones not time out and need the passcode to be put back in too many times? Piece of paper every time for me

Our Groceries is easy to use, can cross items off & easily add to list

BakingHotInSunnyClimate · 20/10/2025 21:12

Thank you, all 🥰

I text myself 😂
I get weirdly OCD about notifications and I have to clear them but when I have something important like a shopping list or something I have to do then I will refuse to open it until I’m in the shop or action whatever needs to be done (meter readings grrr) but it ensures I don’t leave it or forget

Merrymumoftwo · 20/10/2025 21:17

The I phone reminders app has a built in shopping list option and sorts in categories

This is what I use. Really easy to add things then tick them off going around the shop.

DysonLover1 · 20/10/2025 22:42

Just use the Notes app on iPhone and put it as a shared note so we can both read and edit the list and it automatically updates

lashy · 20/10/2025 22:48

I originally used 'notes' on my iPhone but since I started using 'reminders', find I much prefer it.
I have a list for groceries and also one for holidays - so easy to tick stuff off the list as it's purchased (or packed in suitcase).
You can prioritise items and easily 'press and hold' to shuffle items on the list (which was a faff to do on notes).
I like to have my shopping list in the order the items are located in the store.
Quick and easy.

macshoto · 20/10/2025 23:18

Reminders app that comes with the phone. It allows you to do tick box lists, and even have a shared list with other members of the family.
