ikea really bad for not refunding

so I was sent half of a piece of furniture and had to also pay 40.00 delivery (I paid for next day) and they then stated that the missing pieces wouldn't be available for two to three weeks (it was a bed frame for my teenager) so I returned the item as I really needed a new bed asap. this bed cost me 400 plus delivery so not quivering on over 50.00 here. they came and collected it the following Monday and I chased them up on Tuesday to confirm that a refund had been processed, she stated it hadn't but she would and I would receive it in a couple of days. I chased up on the Friday because id still not received the refund or any confirmation and had a man ringing me about collecting the missing bed parts from a store 30 plus miles away from me and he said no refund had been issued and I was down as collecting these items, which I knew nothing about. they then confirmed on the phone I would receive the refund by the end of the day . fast forward to yesterday and they are now saying no one has issued the refund correctly to speed it up (4 people) and that ikea has a 14 days refund timescale so it would not be 14 days from yesterday which is working out at 21 days for a refund. I thought legally you only had 14 days to refund in the uk. ive now found multiple posts on sites of customers waiting 6-8 weeks for a refund from ikea despite the goods being returned straight away. im now having to wait until Friday for my bank to open a dispute but am I unreasonable for being so annoyed at the constant misinformation and the timescale as its 400.00 im now down and they are refusing to refund my delivery cost.

Just call your bank and do a chargeback. I wouldn't be waiting that long for a refund.

My DS purchased a cabinet, didn’t pay for delivery but picked it up in a Tesco car park. He put it together but it the magnetic doors didn’t line up, he contacted IKEA who said he could either have full credit or replacement without sending back the item. He’s managed to sort the doors, so took a full credit, which was paid in his account 2 days later. Maybe he was lucky, getting credit must be easier than a full money back refund.

They're a nightmare. We returned a cot to the shop in person and it took them two hours to process the return and refund, it was a total waste of a day. It's as though they make it as difficult as possible so that you don't return stuff. I've never shopped there since (partly because it's not even that cheap any more, not like it was twenty five odd years ago where everything was a total bargain).

Debenhams took over 6 weeks to fund a straight forward return of a jacket that was too small and I bought the next size up immediately as was for my kid’s prom. Didn’t see the money back for ages. They were trying to blame my bank for holding the funds.

go and leave a review on trustpilot. They didn’t fulfil their side by sending out a complete item!!

Just commenting to say im sorry I clicked the wrong poll option and said I thought you were unreasonable.

obviously i don’t think you are unreasonable, I think ikea is very unreasonable here.
