I know you've got to make a living, but the language in the promoted post below is unethical.

The clear implication is that 'Mumsnet-the-site' - which draws all its authority from us, your users, the Mumsnet 'hivemind' - believes that all young children NEED Equazen.

The only question is which age that it should be given.

I'm quite shocked by this. I've worked in a similar area so I know the score and I'm a commercial realist.

I don't think the ASA will be thrilled.

It looks like the screenshot I uploaded hasn't been cleared by mods, but the promoted thread title I'm talking about reads 'When should I start giving my child Equazen®?'

Bleurgh.

Can you post a link?

thestudio · 27/09/2025 23:12

Trying again !

I didn't open the thread, but read the title as meaning under what circumstances?

thestudio · 27/09/2025 23:14

If you look at Active Discussions, it’s near the top- topic is ‘promoted by Mumsnet’ and the thread title is 'When should I start giving my child Equazen®?'

But seriously "How did we not know about baby Boden?"

I didn't open the thread, but read the title as meaning under what circumstances?

If that were the case it would say when should I give..?

but even if you’re right, it would still imply that in a given situation the best or only action for a parent is to give this commercial ‘health’ product to their child. The question is when, not if.

There was one a while ago about the excitement of taking the monorail to MK and I honestly thought it meant Milton Keynes so ended up tapping on the link to see what it was about 🤣 ah, Magic Kingdom… makes more sense.

I agree

Mumsnet promote all kinds of crap, its getting really tedious. Half the posts seem to be 'promoted by munsnet' at the moment. Luckily there's some warming, because dear mumsnet, I treat them like any other advert; sigh and swerve.

monorails and such was the modernist promise of Milton Keynes. Alas it never delivered.

I never clicked on that but I thought wow, didn’t realise the Birmingham Airport Monorail goes to Milton Keynes now 😂

thestudio · 27/09/2025 23:24

Im pretty sure there are ASA regs about medicine-adjacent products and particularly in relation to children.

I've seen the thread in Active, but just ignore it. Along with all the other 'promoted by Mumsnet' shite they've started pushing.

GoldBalonz · 27/09/2025 23:34

'When should I start giving my child Equazen®?'

The answer to that question is never. A quick google and a tiny bit of knowledge about fish oil, EPA and DHA would show you that these are absolutely eye-wateringly expensive for a fairly crappy dose.

I buy a better dose of EPA and DHA for quite literally a fraction of the cost of these. About a tenth of the cost to be exact!

I thought it was Milton Keynes too. Right up until I just read your post!

MoFadaCromulent · 28/09/2025 21:52

The one where they kept trying to explain how lifting quotes and applying them to products they didn't relate to but which MN were being paid to promote wasn't in fact misleading and posters just didn't understand how it all worked.

That was pretty special

You have enlightened me. I thought it meant Molton Keynes too.

I thought it couldn’t just be me.

I was imagining families being thrilled at riding the monorail, gazing out of the windows at the concrete cows.

@thestudio, MNHQ might not notice this thread in AIBU - the best way to make sure they see it is to report it.

labourthenewrightwingparty · 28/09/2025 21:57

Nope it’s not new. They have advertised pedishakes and ashton teething powders implying they provided pain relief.
