Just that really. Difficult time of year for me. Struggling at work with stress, got oots of friends but no one is around this weekend until later. No partner or kids

Hey 👋also a bit lonely at home today on my own (I’m on my own too much in life). I think I’ll go out somewhere soon - even just the supermarket!

Do you want to talk about anything? What’s happening at work? Why is it a difficult time of year?

Theanswerisinthestars · 27/09/2025 11:42

Hello! 👋 Me too, lonely. Am at supermarket but will write more later. Why is work stressful? 💐

BlackeyedSusan · 27/09/2025 11:58

Oh that's tough.
I remember how hard it was.

I hope that you find something enjoyable and fulfilling to do.

Work is hard as I'm a teacher and it's becoming unsustainable with the amount of stress (I've had a day off already during to not coping)
This time of year has a lot of big bereavement anniversaries for me.

Hey, I would like to chat. Been having a hard time too.

Bladderpool · 27/09/2025 13:29

I hope things get better for you soon. Weather is nice here, can you get out for a walk?

Hurumphh · 27/09/2025 13:34

Sounds like a lot on your plate right now. Do you need to switch off from it and do something fun/distracting, or give some time to feeling it? Hope you can find something that works for you this afternoon

Soozikinzii · 27/09/2025 13:44

It's rough isn't it. I'm normally pretty resilient but man, I'm feeling quite low this weekend

Definitely , I've taken myself to town already for a coffee but chose a really quiet place by accident which didn't help. Have invited a friend over for dinner and telly tonight so will walk to supermarket in a mo to get supplies

Thank you. I just find I feel really lonely like I'm dragging myself round all the time trying to kill time/fill the gap

Do you have any animals? I appreciate if you’re a teacher a dog might be too difficult but having lost our cat earlier this year I have come to appreciate what a life line they were for me. A purring cat sat next to you is a ready made stress reliever.

No I don't but I'd love a dog . I don't know how I'd be able tp have one with my working hours but I'd really love one

Hi OP, we are all allowed to feel low and lonely at times. You are not alone.
Please be kind to yourself.
Get out for a walk and some fresh air.
Treat yourself to a cup of tea.
A bubbly bath later?
Take care OP

What supplies did you get for this evening? Are you cooking?

Hey, I would like to chat. Been having a hard time too.

Sorry to hear that. Bereavement anniversaries suck.

I have quite a stressful job too (and I feel like a complete tool saying that to a teacher) so my de-stressor at the weekends is cooking with some music on :)

Iwanttoleaveteachingtoday · 27/09/2025 17:32

I'm doing loaded burgers which she likes, smash burgers with choice of roll, sides and toppings

And some sweets for Strictly!
I'm lucky as I'm meeting 2 friends tomorrow , but loneliness isn't always just having people to meet is it. Sorry if I sound spoilt

No, you can feel lonely in a crowded room.

Hope the loaded burgers go well!

Beautifulsunflowers · 27/09/2025 19:05

Love a loaded burger! Plus strictly and snacks 😍
hope you have a nice time with your friend

Hurumphh · 27/09/2025 20:52

You don’t sound spoiled. There’s a quote (Jung I think) about loneliness being when we can’t express a part of ourself. So it’s understandable that you can still feel lonely even when around other people.

steff13 · 27/09/2025 20:56

I've had a tough week for various reasons. Today and tomorrow are National Alpaca Farm Days in the US, and my best friend owns an alpaca farm. So I'm spending today and tomorrow helping out. I'm so tired of people.

mondaytosunday · 28/09/2025 10:22

Good morning! Hope the evening passed ok. This is an odd weekend for me - I’ve just dropped my DD at uni, six hour drive from home. Today Tesco shop to stock her up then long drive back. My older son lives on his own 70 miles away but is pet sitting for me and then I’m going down to stay with him a couple days. Hope this gets me over the initial shock of loneliness.
Last year when I first took her to uni I was full of anxiety about how she’d settle in. I don’t have that now, but I did get a bit depressed last year, I had no motivation to do anything. I’m hoping this year will be different. It is also near the anniversary of my DH’s sudden passing, but that was 16 years ago and I’ve never marked it, but it must be lurking in my psyche.
I recommend a cat (or two) if a dog is too much. I have two (and a dog) and they are great company. Just coming home knowing there’s life in the house. I’m also going to really go to town this Christmas- we were to go abroad but my son couldn’t get the time off. So I’m allowing myself to splash out a bit on decorations (not that I need any as I have loads and loads). I also got in on the crochet wheat stitch pumpkin bandwagon and my mantle has a autumn garland plus the pumpkins and candles. Making my home look cosy helps. All the best.
