To throw the chicken out?

Partner has today tried to roast a chicken - in date and thoroughly defrosted (so he says).

It's taken hours longer than it should have. Just chevked it now as he's gone to bed and left me in charge - he'd put it on the "floor" of the oven, not on a rack in the center of the oven. He'd also turned the oven off for half an hour, but left the chicken in it, because he thought it was cooked (it wasn't).

With it being chicken, I'm a bit anxious about whether it's safe or not? I'm loathe to waste food (especially meat) but don't want food poisoning either. It smells okay. Have just put it in the proper position in the oven.

YANBU - Chuck it, it's not safe

YABU - Eat it, it'll be fine

I’d strip the chicken and cook it in some sauce. It’s still ok to do it.
I’m not the one for wasting food either but I’d say his cooking method is questionable.

Unless I’m a weirdo but I’ve never seen anyone cooking any kind of meat in the bottom of the oven.

Check thickest part of thigh, either with a meat thermometer (70c is safe) or until juices run clear without a hint of pink.

I will cook until cremated, always do! But will it already be spoiled?

What’s “hours”? In a hot oven for three hours instead of an hour and a half, I’d eat it once I was sure it was fully cooked through. If it’s been in since lunchtime then absolutely not.

They don't. He was probably just too lazy to put the shelf in.

He's asleep, but I think since about 4pm. Just taken it out now and it's a nice, deep, crispy brown.

Why would you cook food until cremated
