Workmen playing loud music all day every day

It's been all summer from one of the houses directly behind. While it's not blasting decibels, it can be heard inside the house with the windows closed.

Hoping it's just temporary and they're having work done and not people who do this for fun!

Due to tall trees we can't see which neighbour it is. Have only lived here a few months and hate confrontation, DH thinks I'm being unreasonable but it's so annoying and rude IMO.

I just want to yell across to turn it down please or maybe go round but unsure as it may exacerbate the situation.

I absolutely totally sympathise with you. It's something I hate.

Unfortunately I've never had the bottle to go and say anything. Tbh I doubt very much if it would have a good outcome and may make the situation worse.

My only course of action it to make a note of the tradesmen 's names from their vans and put them on my list of people never to use when I need a job doing. Unfortunately the worst offenders often don't have a name on their vans because they are cowboys.

Don't yell! Your husband should go round and ask them nicely not to blast the music so loud. It takes 2 people to make a confrontation. If your dh is nice and polite and reasonable then that simply won't happen.

Also don't use them for any work yourselves as a PP said.

Just go round, tell them you work nights and you'd be grateful ifvtgey could turn the volume down a bit

Our neighbours had builders in over summer - they hadn’t moved in at this point. One day I was so fed up with the relentless noise from Smooth FM that I went round and asked one of the builders’ lackeys to turn it down. He was really rude to me and told me it wasn’t that loud so no, he wouldn’t turn it down. It was certainly loud enough to be heard easily over the noise of constant drilling!
The next day when what I guessed was the main builder arrived, I spoke to him, told him I didn’t appreciate being spoken to like some idiot by a teenager, that his team should be respectful of neighbours and that the radio shouldn’t be loud enough for neighbours to hear every word the presenters were saying.
Next thing, the young lad came round and apologised and the radio was left on a much more acceptable level.
I appreciate that as I chose to live in a terraced house I should expect some noise, and building noise in general can’t be helped, but loud radios are a pain!!

Why should her DH go round? Why not her?

Of course just politely ask them to keep the noise down a bit please.

They certainly won't stop if you say nothing. But they could be totally unaware it's annoying people.

If it sounds like a radio, and they won't turn it down, you can actually report them to the PRS as they are meant to pay a fee to play a radio in a place of work. I'm pretty sure they won't have.
