Landlord charges…

Landlord is trying to charge me for a copy of the original tenancy agreement that we all signed as original got damaged and I need a copy of it for something.
is this even legal to charge a fee for this?

I don’t believe they can unless your tenancy began before 1 June 2020. More info here and Shelter have a helpline where you can double check: england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/private_renting/letting_agent_fees_for_tenants
