To be getting a bit bored by all the class "stuff" on MN at the moment?

There's a lot of snobbery AND equally vehement inverted snobbery on here at the mo.
In RL I've been subject to both,I have well spoken and highly qualified but v poor parents.

"posh" voice myself, good qualifications from a comprehensive school.

Now totally skint living in a tiny house in a traditionally affluent suburb.

Have never fitted into a bracket and never will .

What is working/middle class anyway and why does it raise so many hackles on here?

The very expression 'inverted snobbery' is very snobby in so much as it assumes one side is superior (in this case the mc)

this thread has been flogged to death about 7/8 months ago, I watch with anticipation.

Saturn74 · 02/06/2008 20:29

squilly · 02/06/2008 20:34

I'm just watching E News...taped it earlier. Does that make me more chavvy than classy? Am I more working class for that or less??

Or am I just desparately aspirational/brainless/bored????

llareggub · 02/06/2008 20:37

Oblivious to all...I haven't noticed any class stuff. Well maybe a little. But no more than in any community.

IorekByrnison · 02/06/2008 20:46

There's some on the toddling apple theft aibu thread. But I think that might just be Xenia having a slow evening.

cheeset · 02/06/2008 20:49

I love E News. Who are the Kardashians anyway? Why are they famous?

GreenElizabeth · 02/06/2008 20:50

REading your post op i have already deduced that you are as rough as a badger.

actually i haven't noticed anything to do with class recently. I am too busy discussing home brew.........

lol at rough as badger. Actually op sounds pretty classy to me. Poor is the new rich don't you know.

IorekByrnison · 02/06/2008 20:56

What is E News?

squeaver · 02/06/2008 20:58

E News is my major guilty secret too. I am an expert on the Kardashians and also Hef's girlfriends

Like the direction this thread has taken..!

SSSandy2 · 02/06/2008 21:00

what class stuff is this? never notice anything. The only thing that stuck in my mind was the thread on how do you hang your toilet roll - which shows how posh you are. Apart from that, don't really take it all in.

GreenElizabeth · 02/06/2008 21:00

I suppose if I think about it I'm similar. Parents never had brass farthing but sent us to private schools. Our house was tiny but on a nice road and we all speak nicely but don't know anybody who is 'anybody' and who can get any of us a nice cushy job!!

That is my definition of being a proper toff, when your Dad can just ring geoffrey in the gerkin and say can you give lucinda a wll paid job tinkering about on the internet? and geoffrey says of course roger i owe you one from when you were my fag.

Ah, how the other half live ey!?

BEST NOT TO THINK ABOUT IT.

cheeset · 02/06/2008 21:00

I love 'Girls of the Playboy Mansion'

I don't like Kendra, her laugh is sooo annoying. I think she's Hefs bit of rough if thats possible?

MaureenMLove · 02/06/2008 21:00

Surely, MN isn't that important, that a subject like this would bother anyone? I don't give a rats arse what people say about my class act!

peacelily · 02/06/2008 21:01

Actually greensleeves round my way it's "rough as a bag of spanners"

OP posts:
GreenElizabeth · 02/06/2008 21:02

I'm confused actually. Those expressions mean ugly, and obviously you're not ugly because all mners are gorge.

peacelily · 02/06/2008 21:03

Didn't start thread becuaes i was that bothered about it, just a bit bored and musing....

OP posts:
squeaver · 02/06/2008 21:05

Oh yes Cheeset, Holly is his "ideal", Bridget is his "silly bint" and Kendra is his tomboy bit of rough.

I'd love to know how they decide on the bedroom rota.

I just cannot imagine Hef in bed with all 3 women. I reckon he just you know what with Holly and the other 2 are there just to make Hef look good IYKWIM.

squilly · 02/06/2008 21:15

I love True Holywood Stories but can't be doing with the playboy mansion. Too much lady flesh for my liking (not that I'm anti lady flesh, but that much plastic on a body makes me think of Barbies and makes me wish I was 19 and natural again) instead of forty-odd and fat!

Glad to hear I'm not the only Enews lover on MN. Thank you all for your loving!
