Had to replace the spotlight bulbs in our bathroom. Harsh glaring light but I bought warm white this time (not deliberately) and it’s a game changer. Softer light means looking and feeling better (even if an illusion) and not feeling like under interrogation :-) £5 well spent. Any others?

Buying rechargeable salt and pepper grinders was one of the best days work ever, they make cooking a pleasure!

I bought some glow in the dark sticky tape, it glows for hours and now I can find my phone in the dark, or the light switch if I need the loo in the night.

Having a genuinely tasty emergency meal in the freezer for when we are home late / can’t be bothered / shopping delivery delayed - usually gyoza, or a good pizza, or pesto that can be served up with dry pasta. Even a good ready meal. At that moment when I might have reached for UberEats I grab that instead. Probably saves me at least £20 a month and several hundred calories.

Sprayway glass cleaner and E-cloths. Windows, mirrors and shower doors cleaned in no time, smear free. Amazing!

Also, 'Cook' frozen meals.

I did this with my kids glow stars, now on the lights.

FREE:

always putting my car keys in a specific place.

no more stress/time wasted looking for them. For years it wasn't a problem, then it WAS (don't know why???) but I spent a long time continually mislaying them, making myself late, getting stressed, until I found a wee box that I now always ALWAYS put them in.

Obviously very simple, no brainer, but it HAS made a huge difference.

SMALL COST:

'Any sharps' blade sharpener. About £10 on Amazon. Easy to use. Quick sharp knives 👍🏻

I keep £10 in loose change in the car for trolleys / parking meters / random emergencies.

A towelling bathrobe to put on when I get out of the shower in the mornings, it’s so much warmer than just a towel

Oh, I’ve said this before as well - I keep a sick bowl under each child’s bed with wipes, a bin liner and a change of pjs in there. Stops scrabbling about in middle of the night if they puke!

on a weekend (I was a single parent) I used to put a carton of juice, an individually wrapped pain au chocolate and the iPad by their bed. Would get me an extra hours lie in.

Lights that you fix under the basin in the bathroom, so a dim light comes on if you get up in the night.
