To ask why he’s doing this?

An elected county councillor lives on my street. He’s started doing air bnb but on the website uses his girlfriend’s details as owner of property (she doesn’t live there). Why would he do this? Tax avoidance or because he is a somewhat public figure (his address can be found online anyway so not sure it would make much difference), or something else entirely? I’ll stop curtain twitching in a bit…

She has more time to manage bookings?

Yes this is what I came on to say! Might be easier for the GF to manage or she might just have more interest in doing it?

Yes good point. To add he was also very cagey about what was happening with his house. I asked him if he was selling it as I’d seen lots of new people around and assumed they’d come to look around. He just said: ‘no, I’m not selling’. Same happened with my neighbour when she asked the same question. We only know he’s doing air BnB as we found him on the website. It’s just made me start to wonder why he’s not listed as owner…

To be fair it doesn't surprise me that a councillor is a bit shifty...

Maybe he just doesn’t want people poking their noses in to his business? I might not mind chatting about it to a friend, but not to random neighbors that I don’t know well. He’d have to be really dim to not be declaring all income on his tax return (although sadly some politicians are both dim And dishonest).
