To think hair looks a mess

Does my hair look a mess? To me it does. This is it without any straightening or anything

is it as bad as I think or could I get away with this on the daily? Just asking cos hair straightening obvs so damaging to your hair and I’m trying to grow mine. But equally in my head it looks awful otherwise (as shown in pic)

please be brutally honest with answers/opinons

Is it tied back op? I can’t tell! I don’t think it looks bad I’ve seen much worse, my own a few years ago during Covid was a total mess!!
Maybe looks a little dry but nothing a mask can’t fix

Hankunamatata · 10/09/2025 15:14

Cant really see with coat. Is it tied back?

ComtesseDeSpair · 10/09/2025 15:17

Difficult to tell with the coat. It looks a bit windswept, but I assume you’re outside, so normal. Unless you’re going for the sleek and glamorous look, it appears to have some styling to it and looks perfectly presentable as a daily hairstyle.

Comedycook · 10/09/2025 15:19

I can't tell if it's up or not? Or how long it is because of your coat collar.

NormaNormal · 10/09/2025 15:19

If you are trying to grow it, get a good growing out haircut, one where you just wash your hair, comb it through then leave it.
It looks OK to me, but it's your hair and you need to be happy with it.

PennySweeet · 10/09/2025 15:21

You’re better off brushing it, leaving it down and then taking a photo.

It’s too hard to tell.

dogsflying · 10/09/2025 15:46

It’s tied back but I’ll do another photo soon without coat

I think the high quiffy fringe is making it look unusually styled rather than natural and unstyled. If it were me I'd try to get that lie flatter (grip it flat when wet and overnight) rather than flicking out.

NormaNormal · 10/09/2025 16:59

Thanks. It doesn't look a mess, but my advice is still the same. Are you growing out the fringe?

dogsflying · 10/09/2025 17:02

I’m growing out all my hair to be honest cos I don’t enjoy having short hair tbh. But apart from the Quiffy fringe which I can try to flatten with grips yes, does it look messy? Im more thinking /worried about the ends of my hair cos they curl up and then I feel I look a mess?

No, I think the rest is fine. Try a little glossing serum on the ends to hold any flyaways and it'll look fine. Curling up isn't messy in itself, it's the fuzziness you can get with curls that can look a bit untidy.

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 10/09/2025 17:13

It's not messy but IMO it's just not a very interesting style.

didgeridid · 10/09/2025 17:14

I think it looks fine.
My hair is naturally frizzy and messy. I either have to straighten it - which doesn't last in the rain or humid weather (90% of days) or put tonnes of product in which eventually makes my scalp sore.
I hate it and avoid looking in the mirror as I don't have the time, money or know how to make it more manageable.
