Tell me what to watch

Ive got the house to myself, for the first time in years, which means my choice of TV.

I'm a bit sad today as my DS has gone away to uni, so I'm looking for something to cheer me up.

I've seen the usual comedy box sets, and most comedy films. Just looking for a pick me up to get me through the night. Any ideas?

Bluey it's for kids but very good

Airportslil · 08/09/2025 19:55

Gosh I’m with you. All that intensity and being aware that even if they’re in they are in their room, they’re still in the house.
i actually watched clueless last night - can’t cope with any stress!
good luck, i feel your pain!

snemrose · 08/09/2025 21:13

I’m rewatching Clocking Off because nothing was taking my fancy.

coronafiona · 08/09/2025 21:29

The guest on bbc is brilliant

Starling7 · 08/09/2025 21:31

The Change on C4 is brilliant - series 2 just out recently.

Youdontseehow · 08/09/2025 21:34

Have you got Sky? I’ve just got into the White Lotus and I love it!

madnessitellyou · 08/09/2025 21:36

Do you have Netflix?

Pepsi where’s my jet? was a good watch.

If you want some absolute brain rotting trash, I highly recommend Love is Blind.

madnessitellyou · 08/09/2025 21:37

Oh and the Trainwreck series. There’s many a moment where you will go wtf.

TheGoodOnesAreAllGone · 08/09/2025 21:42

Schitts Creek on Netflix, one of my favourites

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 08/09/2025 21:55

We have just finished the guest here too, @coronafiona.

Would recommend!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 08/09/2025 21:58

I'm rewatching Byker Grove at the moment. Available on the STV app 😍

Elephantangel1991 · 08/09/2025 21:58

Fisk is an understated gentle comedy- similarly Kim's Convenience.

Really depends what you like. Slow Horses good drama/crime thing.

AlloaintheMiddle · 08/09/2025 21:58

Sirens on Netflix!

Muststopeating · 08/09/2025 22:01

Ted Lasso for funny and heartwarming (one of the best ever)

Offspring (get through the first episode)

Fisk, much lighter but still funny.

West Wing and/or The Newsroom if you'd like something to get your teeth into/distract you but still make you chuckle.

The recommendation for Bluey above is great but will break your heart if you're missing your kids.

Editing to add The Detectorists for really gentle humour.

While we are talking about TV, who thinks that, even with Netflix, Disney, Prime, all the TV catch up apps, and upto 999 "live" channels...theres very few quality programmes?!

We’ve just finished Coldwater on ITV, and just about to do the last episode of The Rumour on channel 5.
