Posting for traffic.

My lovely neighbour is selling his house and he's moving soon. He has two children roughly in year 7&8. We want to get him/them a small parting gift, but have no ideas. Without going into details he's been kind and helpful to us on a number of occasions, and we'd like to give something.

The problem is that he's moving back home with parents, and not into a new house, so a 'house-warming' present is out.

Any ideas?

On Etsy there are people who do drawings of houses.

Might be a bit expensive - but nice for someone moving.

A takeaway or restaurant voucher? Why is he moving, money issues, better schools? That makes a difference. We are moving and we are treating ourselves to decent bedding, but only from Dunelm (we usually buy sheets from Asda).

The move is due to a divorce. I'm not sure a house drawing is the answer!

What about a family ticket to a local attraction? Mini golf or a cinema maybe?

Arlanymor · 07/09/2025 19:29

I wouldn't say anything 'housy' given the situation, but definitely something that he can enjoy with the children now that he's having to share custody (I assume) and is likely to be seeing them a little less. Depending on how much you want to spend - something like a Merlin Pass: https://www.merlinannualpass.co.uk/buy-passes/ or at the other end of the scale, a restaurant voucher as a PP has suggested. Nando's gift card given the ages of the children: https://www.nandos.co.uk/food/shop?

That's a tricky one. I second something like a meal voucher. It's so hard to know how much space they'll have.

Silverbirchleaf · 07/09/2025 19:32

Vouchers are good idea. - cinema, crazy golf, animal farm, etc

A board game? Or an Escape Room from thepuzzlepost
