To hate Tesco Marketplace?

Maybe it's just me but since Tesco online opened everything up to Marketplace sellers there has been a deluge of over priced shite and I can't get hold of what I actually want. Is anybody else finding this?

It's mainly with things like Seasonal items, home and stationery type stuff rather than food. Example; wanted a roll of brown parcel paper, which Tesco used to do as an own brand online, now a load of marketplace stuff pops up and the cheapest roll on there is £18.54! Same with bubble wrap. Same with gift items. I know I could pop to the shops to get these things way cheaper, but I'm really busy and it would be more convenient to chuck them in with the weekly shop. Around this time of year I used to add one or two stocking fillers a week to the weekly grocery shop to take the edge off the spend nearer to Christmas, but it's all really expensive marketplace shit - I know everything is more expensive now and I do expect to pay more than a few years ago, but actually a lot of the stuff on Tesco marketplace is a massive greedy piss take frankly. It's actually making me consider switching to Sainsburys, I'm so irritated by it.

Yes I’ve noticed this too with Tesco its really annoying

Yes it’s so annoying I buy less from them now because I don’t want to wade through the marketplace shite

Who is buying from Tesco Marketplace? If you wanted to buy that stuff, wouldn’t Amazon be the obvious choice?

mondaytosunday · 06/09/2025 10:10

I just got some great dishes that I first saw on a Scandi homeware site but same price on Tesco marketplace plus free delivery.
Things like parcel paper I’d just get off Amazon.

You can filter out for Marketplace products.

But I agree that Tesco seems to be selling fewer of its own items online, for example, bedding and towels.

Click on "Filters".

Click on the arrow to the right of "Tesco and Marketplace".

Select "Tesco" and only Tesco supplied items will display.

Not on the app, for me, unfortunately.

It was there when marketplace launched but since disappeared.

Thanks, though Smile

Yes! I needed prit sticks and had to scroll past the first ten or so items to get to ones that would be delivered with the weekly shop. It's quite annoying.
But it doesn't happen often as I don't buy many non-food items.

TammyMurray · 29/10/2025 10:53

I have only bought from it once and the wrong item sent to me. Never again. Not a good look for Tesco. If you order with your shopping, it should come with your shopping not a week later. I can use Amazon for a better service.

Yeah, it's bollocks. I want everything to come together with my groceries, not some overpriced dog food arriving five days later.

LadySuzanne · 08/11/2025 08:25

I don't know about other stores, but for non grocery items, the Tesco my delivery is picked from seems to be showing fewer and fewer items like bedding, stationery, kitchenware, home accessories that can be added to the grocery delivery. I don't want to have to pay for courier delivery for items that are in stock in the store where my groceries are picked from.

Ah, sorry. I did not think to check whether this works for the app as well as online.
