So ds is 5 and obsessed with kpop demon hunters. Watches it at least once a day and has the songs on when not watching the film.

For Halloween he wants to dress up as the main female character. Do I let him? I don't care if we was staying in the house but he wants to go trick or treating. Worried his peers may judge him?

So wibu to say no?

I wouldn't

Girasoli · 06/09/2025 07:54

I'd let him...he's only 5, get him a cool plastic sword/lightsaber to wave about with it?

Dairymilkisminging · 06/09/2025 08:02

Yeah he'd have lots of fun. It's not unusual for him to want to be female characters. His favourite colour is pink he has girls trainers too

Would you feel this way if you had a daughter who wanted to dress up as Harry Potter?

parietal · 06/09/2025 10:00

I’d let him.

Dairymilkisminging · 06/09/2025 13:51

I'm more worried about others judging him as people will accept a girl dress as Harry Potter but not so many will accept a boy dressed as a girl. I don't mind if he likes more girlie stuff

Thinking about it unless you knew him you'd not be able to tell he's a boy when dressed up.

He's 5.
Will many other 5 year olds even know what the character is?
Also at 5 they generally don't care.

Dairymilkisminging · 06/09/2025 15:04

Yeah other kids will know. It's been massive on Netflix also the songs from it are in the charts.

Think I'm stressing about it too much

You seem to be the main person trying to convince us he's into girly things than any costume he might wear...

Well whatever the childvwears just make sure it us fire retardant..Was it Claudia Winkleman's daughter that got burnt a few years back? At thr time the halloween costumes were regarded as toys rather than clothes so no fire safety legislation applied. It put me right off Halloween.
