Teacher Keeps Sending Template Messages

Hi as we all know the kids have gone back to school, my child’s teacher keeps sending me template messages like the one in the picture.

Am I right to feel slightly irritated that they can’t be bothered to even put my child’s name?

It's probably an error - sounds like one of the parent's first names should be child's name, anyway. You could mention it in a 'just so you know, your messaging template isn't populating the names in the name field' but idk why you'd care
I'd think it would be easier to just send them home with a list of words like they used to, surely?

LividYosemite · 05/09/2025 13:25

Seems like they just haven't figured out the right buttons to press to actually send you the final version with the completed information.

While that's mildly irritating, do you really expect them to type out 30 of the same admin type message when technology exists?

Overwhelmedandunderfed · 05/09/2025 13:26

Do they realise? I wouldn’t be annoyed because I think it’s quite proactive to send home stuff like this anyway and it’s electronic which is nice and easy. However, I would be embarrassed as a teacher to send that and it makes me wonder if they’ve realised?

Could you send a message back saying ‘is this for Andrew? Or is it a mistake because it doesn’t have his name on?’ Sort of politely prompting them to think about personalising without complaining. It’s the sort of task that’s likely done in the teachers own time so I would be loathe to complain but can see why it looks a bit unprofessional.

The teacher has spent time making an individual plan for your child's benefit but you want to complain? FAFO, your kid could just be given the whole list and told to learn them.

minipie · 05/09/2025 13:28

Looks like they have tried to use mail merge and failed.

They may not realise the end result looks like this, they probably think they’ve put the names in.

You could mention it - but in a helpful way rather than complaining! “Whoops think there’s been a software error as we’ve received this <screenshot> just fyi!”

Smartiepants79 · 05/09/2025 13:28

Have you told the teacher that this is what you’re receiving because that 100% looks like a technical error.
Please inform them and let them fix it.

Oh dear, I'm sure they'll be mortified when they realise! 🤣

Have you messaged to let them know?
