I’m in my late 20s, however in my early 20s I got a dog and after various work from home crap jobs I decided to go part time as didn’t want to leave my dog alone at home all day (I don’t have family to help) and she’s too reactive for doggy daycare. I then found out I was pregnant so that put any career prospects or saving money on hold. We have minimal savings and a portion on debt on car loans. It really doesn’t feel as though we’re getting anywhere as it feels like we’re starting from scratch with me just recently starting work again. Does anyone have any advice? I know it’s a very vague post but I feel like we should have a lot of savings by now

who is the we?
depending on your exams you could do an access course for uni
who helps with your baby when you’re at work.
what are your skills, interests? What motivates you?

You’ve certainly made things very difficult for yourself.
Time to sit down and do a proper assessment of your financial position, as of now and then through your maternity etc. A big budgeting exercise will help you work out how much money you need to bring in, and how long you can afford to not work after the baby is born.

Good luck!

You chose various other things over savings. If your priorities have now changed, you’ll have to make different (possibly very hard) choices.

It's never too late, OP. I had shit jobs until I was in my 40s, and have always been a wanker with money, so didn't even think about savings/pension until I was nearly 60. It's possible to turn things around though, over time. What you do have in the bank is youth on your side!!! Good luck!
