To wish there was a mumsnet thread for this (lighthearted)

Saw this story about a neighbours tree falling into another's property causing significant damage to 3 vehicles. Thankfully no one is hurt, but could just imagine a big mumsnet thread about who is being unreasonable . Would surely need an obligatory diagram also

Brechin neighbours in bitter feud after two cars and campervan smashed by fallen tree

The tree fell on to the vehicles during high winds on Sunday.

I’m team George - people should keep their trees on a leash.

Yeah I feel sorry for the people with the damage but ime it will be hard to prove negligence and the insurance company won’t care too much.

I’m in a very similar situation and my loss has totalled 40-50k and even though my neighbour caused the incident (a fire) which started in their property seems like they won’t be held liable. Personally I’d have thought grinding a car metal work during a heat wave and then tossing a hot bit of metal into a tinder dry hedge was negligence but legally it appears not.

id have thought having a dodgy tree was also negligence but might be hard to prove.

Haven't read the story but, if one of my big trees fell into the neighbour's, I'd expect to be using my insurance to pay for the damage.
